Engineers Why is Engineers Update a Problem ? For players and Frontier

Hello CMDR,

the base of players is heavy splitted into to segments. The hals say's Engineers is perfect - now the AI is harder to fight - and the other half is the totaly opposite.

Why is this so?

" It is a Frontier Housmate Problem ! "

With the Update of Engineers cames the aspect that there Big-Ships ( specialy Cargovessel's ) are completly wrong designed for Engineer's. Whats working with easy AI didn't work with Superpowered AI.

Think about it :

When i where i Designer of a Cargovessel or a Big - Heavy - Ship, that never has the ability to turn like a Formula one car, but it has to cross dangerous Areas, and must have the ability to defend them self's, i must change my Design.
All Weaponattachment points showing the same direction like the small Fighters. Lets have a look at the Type 9 Cargovessel. Who want's to fight a Head to head fight with this ship?

Cargovessel's need bigger Powerplants and Slots for Turrets on theire - Top - Bottom - Side Position
Also they need Stronger Shieldgenerator's and alot of defence attachmentpoints.

Now the Ships absolutly not designed for that kind of Gameplay, who want's to survive must fly in small ship with high manoverbility.
Each other have to hope not to meet a small fast ship with highpower weapons.

Thats the Reason while Engineer doesn't work !!!

For me cargoe vessels become useless much earlier. It was the moment when running away didn´t solve your problem because you were interdicted again and again and again. I am still angy that I bought a T9 painting that I can not use anymore. Thats why I do not buy shippaintings anymore. I am not able to say how long I will be able to use ist. But I got used to it. I outfittet combat ships to cargo vessels. I can outrun everything in my Cutter or the Pyton. What anoyes me is the increased number of interdictions I have to deal since the new update is out. I made some tests and came to an amazing result. When you have comodities on board that are needet to get engineers upgrades, you are a high priority target to NPC Pirates. On the one side we shall do missions and collect what is needet, on the other side you are interrupted, interdicted and harrased at the moment you have 1 ton of needed commodities in your cargohold. The moment I have all upgeades I need, I sell those commodities the moment I get them as reward and I will have a better gaming exiriance than now.

Thats exactly what i posted in my earliyer Thread.

Defently all Cargovessel are absolutly wrong designed. To less Power, all the weapons showing in a head to head combat direction. Which idiot will get in to a fight with a ship thats not designed for it or even have the ability to defend himself so long that the attacker has to think is it worth to take a high damage for that Goodies?

All the time since I'm deadly ranked.

Yes.. this is all madness. I killed an Elite FDL yesterday with my trade conda that has size 4 shields and all turrets (-2 mining lasers).. Can't kill the elite Condas what that ship though because they have SCBs and I don't. But the answer to that is simply, pack SCBs just like the AI does and then engage in a bit of friently ramming, you can have their shields down in less than a minute.

Hi there,

sorry I had to say this but a cargo vessel wasn't designed for fighting, never. The only chance such a vessel had, is to remain unrecognized and flee when it comes to an confrontation. Cutter, Anaconda, Phyton, Clipper and the Federal Corvette (when someone like to trade with this ships) are the only exceptions.

I think that FD have to to change some things about the cargo vessels that are not combat able in case of their flee mechanics. They should be able to do so. And maybe that masslock thing should be adjusted.

I don't see the point what this will have to do with the Engineer's?

Just my tought's

Regards Barthok

I have no problem while doing combat in my big ship. Yesterday my big ship (Imperial Cutter) cut three elite ranked Anacondas with just turrets, minus the two mining lasers (I just don't expose her underbelly to the enemy ships).

Question - so is it only your combat ranking that determines what rank of NPC opposition you are likely to run into? Do Explorer and Trader rank have any effect??
