There are other games out there....

Along with all the other die hard Elite Dangerous players out there, I too was awaiting 2.1 with great enthusiasm. I was looking forward to the game play, new content, new story, new combat, tools...etc... you get the idea. I have run into a few snags, to say the least. Some I have been able to over come, while others - the answer has yet to reveal itself to me.

I have noticed that while searching the forums for answers to my questions, I have found a lot of players that are unhappy since 2.1.

To those who have not found an answer in the forums for your problems in game, and are not satisfied, I would suggest finding a new game.

I'm not saying this to be mean spirited. The whole point of playing games is to have fun. If the myriad of activities Elite Dangerous now offers doesn't make you happy, then perhaps it is time to move on for a while.

Sure every game has a learning curve, and Elite Dangerous is considered to be challenging to the most average of players; to say the least. However, if you have given the game what you consider proper time to judge it worthy or not and are still not happy, then go. Take a break, come back in a week, two weeks, or 6 months. Whatever suits your fancy. Don't be unhappy, don't be "salty" just go. Elite will be here when you get the itch again.

Consider this though... When the next expansion comes out, put some serious consideration and thought into whether Elite Dangerous has fulfilled your desire for fun activities this past year. Perhaps your money would be better spent somewhere else?

I prefer a positive game experience, with happy, fun, enjoyable players, and I understand that there will be a certain amount of people that are not going to like the changes. Instead of being unhappy and complaining I would rather you just leave. Whether enough people leave the game for the game developers to make changes that will make you happy is hard to tell. But we won't know unless you leave.

Sure, you could always voice your opinions, thoughts and desires to the game developers in the forums in a positive, constructive manner, but what's the fun in that?

Fly safe commanders and play the game you want to play!

I love ED for what it is, but sure enough I have alternatives too: Dark Souls 3, Hyper Light Drifter, Stardew Valley, Might and Magic retro series (reliving the childhood!) and a ton of others. Oddly enough, I was unhappy with ED pre-2.1. It felt unpolished and kinda upset me somewhat. Just before 2.1 I got into the habit of base-raiding with the horizons, and started to have a ton of fun. Now I'm having even more fun! =)

I tried to get back into Crusader Kings II recently. Believe me, if you think any Frontier update has broken this game, you've not played their latest DLC, 'Conclave'.

You say you want a positive experience in the game?, the forum is not the game, it's a place to discuss the game, and that does include criticizing aspects of the game, sure, give the devs a pat on the back when they get it right.

It's so easy to say, if you don't like the forum's "move on", but people have the right to voice an opinion, of course people also have the right to ignore that opinion.

I'm finding 2.1 to be a lot of fun - AI has made similar level ships a challenge and security level now means something. Plus the blueprint requirements of engineer's mods has given me longer term goals to hunt for. It's a great update.

Correct. But

YOU HAVE BROKEN THE GAME! THE GAME IS DOOMED BECAUSE I WILL LEAVE THE GAME

is neither constructive nor criticism. It's just a rant.

Since Elite Dropped I have bought about 6 Games.

They are usually fillers for when I OD on elite, (happens a bit!) or like Anno for when I am waiting for 2.1 to drop as I tend to find when a New version drops into Beta, the old version is boring and the BETA doesn't impact on my main game so I lose interest

There are loads of games out there

but for hours played/pound paid This is the cheapest games I have in my collection and I include investing in a Thrustmaster Warthog and being in at Alpha in those calculations

fair enough OP, but some people want a game set in the Milky Way without the emphasis on Pew Pew and more on exploration, pray tell, where do people like that go?

You have to remember the $$ and time some people put into this game. some have a larger amount of money invested in it even before Horizons came out. Alot are mad that promises and plans they were told by FD went by the wayside. This is the forums and people spent their money on a game and have as much right to complain as you have to praise it

You missed the point:

As I said, people have the right to ignore, and the forum does have that option.
Looks like a good opportuniy to run in circles!
People have the right to post pointless threads, other people have the right to tell them that posting pointless threads is pointless.

PS
Now please don't tell me that people who have the right to post pointless threads have the right to tell people who have the right to tell them that they are posting pointless threads to post on these threads. I already know that!

I sincerely hope that the developers don't cave to the petulant whining. Some people refuse to accept that some things reward practice.

I have bought an Elite hoodie and the early bird Planet Coaster Alpha just to spite the people who come to the community and threaten to quit if they don't get their way.

Take that.

Ps: The update is beautiful. I have to be on my toes when I run missions. It's a blast.

So you admit it's a rant and serves no purpose other than to vent emotion and contribute absolutely zero to the community and game?
Nice.

The example given in my opinion is a rant, and if that's all they have to say, then there was nothing constructive about it, venting is fine, but at least give a reason beyond "this game sucks".

Even when a person does put a constructive criticism there are alot of people that just slam them with nothing constructive to their posts yet I don't see that being complained about here
So we have:
- constructive criticism with unconstructive feedback
- unconstructive criticism with constructive feedback
- unconstructive criticism with unconstructive feedback
- construcive criticism with construcitve feedback

Maybe you should start a thread about it!
