To all those who have a second account, have you realized that you *kind of* already have cargo storage?

This one smacked me in the face earlier today and I couldn't believe I haven't thought of it before.. Like a bunch of other commanders, I have a second account. If you have a second account you can leave your second account outside your home station in a ship with cargo space and collectors and then occasionally give them stuff from your primary account so that they can look after it for you :) (I.e. so that you can go around in a combat ship for a while without cargo space or simply switch ships into a ship with no cargo space so that you can add some)

My only slight concern is that my second account only has 1.6, not horizons so what will happen if I give them cargo which is engineer specific. I guess 1.6 must have access to all the same cargo even if materials are not all available.

Right. You'll either need two computers playing E: D at the same time (and you'll need to switch your controllers around), or you'll need to run both copies of E: D on the same computer at the same time.

Or get a friend to log into E: D with your other account and do the swap that way. That's probably the easiest way.

Storage was the reason I bought my 2nd Account when ED was £10, mainly to hold UA and other sciencey stuff when they were hard to find.
If you know what's what, you can run 2 on the same PC simultaneously.

Yes, my laptop can just about run ED (although it isn't great) but I don't need to do much with it, just fire collectors at the right time..

Yes I've read that's possible, I might look into it. I have heard of a guy that does mining in two ships at once from the same PC in order to double the fragment count from each roid...

Ah, the good old Battlenet Mule account [yesnod]
Additional hint: if you don't have 2 computers to login in both accounts ask a friend to hold yer stuff, login into the Mule and pick up again.

Well there you go. Simple. Entitled players should stop demanding FDev waste valuable resources on "standard" features when we can just buy a second account and a second computer.

Haha, I'm not trying to suggest FDev shouldn't add cargo storage. Merely suggesting a work around for now for those who already have a second account.

In Battlenet (Diablo) or Everquest we never worked up the Mules, main character can dump enough Credits for the Mule to buy the needed storage. Working up storage Mules just used for that is a waste of time. Well, in ED we have only one character per account while in other games you have like 6 character slots per account, so maybe it's fun to level with the Mule too in ED.

I actually play my second account though, so I don't want to load it down with commodities. Might be time for a third!

Been doing this for a while, sorry that it didn't occur to me to post about it.
.
You can store commodities that don't officially exist in the 1.6 game if your second commander is the base version. You can even sell them there :)
.
It's a shame we cant transfer the zero mass items too.

What's the hurry? Why do you need to transfer stuff from one account to the other? Play the game and it will come in time. You might even have fun doing it.

You seem to be rushing things, but why? There is no end game, there is no finale banner with fireworks, or "you win" screen. Materials (and credits) are all over the place.

It's not the destination, it's the journey.

Well, I would like to buy a DBS but I can't because I'm holding some rare cargo for Engineer upgrades and the default DBS has zero storage. I would also love to retrieve my Cobra that I had fitted for 2.0 but same problem.
