As I said in my post, "shadowplay" doesn't work on my system. Also tried an open source video capture without success. Lost interest and gave up. I think you vastly overestimate the number of people making video of their games, as well. Frankly I think those instant interdictions are by design, not a bug. The ED devs like short cuts.
Eh... You don't even need to explain that much. I don't think this JughedJones guy works for FD, so it's not like anyone really owes him any sort of "evidence", video or otherwise. Frankly, even IF he could be convinced, he couldn't do anything to fix it anyway. This is happening to enough people that I think it's safe to say it's a problem. He's just some guy on the internet blowing hot-air about the experiences I've critiqued about the game because... well... I don't know why, tbh. "Boredom" maybe?
But when a persistent NPC shows up 2s after you high wake out and enter a system 30LY away, with the NPC in a ship that isn't able to jump 30LY, then something's amiss.[...] You have a warp drive that can make you travel light years away in 10 seconds. Use it.

High wake out.
Stop running in a straight line.
If you were hired tob kill someone, and they kept running in the same direction from you, how hard would it be to catch them?

I've had the same problem as the original poster and found it equally frustrating. It wasn't the interdiction itself that was frustrating, but the repeated attempts over and over. Most were happening too quick, since I submitted/ran/jumped and had a shorter cool down. My way of dealing with one that kept happening repeatedly (in 2.1, when they sometimes outclassed me) was to log to main menu the minute I hit supercruise (usually only 2 seconds before they would appear and interdict again).
Thank you for restating the high wake escape advice. I've seen that response elsewhere and I will use it from now on. Hopefully, it will help others as well.
As for the "If you were hired to kill someone..." bit, I would agree if the NPCs and PCs were playing by the same rules. If they jump away on me (even low wake), I can never find them again. On the flip side, they are always instantly on me... which is really absurd when I have situations where: A. I have them targeted the whole time and there FSD has still not spooled up as I leap away B. They're also engaged with 3 system authority vessels which are swarming around them like hornets.
But, as I said, you provided a good in game solution that works. So thanks.![]()
Can we see this 'persistent AI' or is it all something you're sure is true?
I haven't seen it. Lot's of folks that play all the time don't see it. I think there's something else going on here. I think we've done an inadequate job as a helpful community.
Yep...high wake makes pirates barely an annoyance.
...that's your act of success even if you are combat potent, your objective of choice in this trader ship is to safely deliver the cargo.
It happened to me a lot in 2.0 while doing Rep grind runs from Fehu and 17 Draconis. While most of them were the "Drop down with me, I need to talk" npcs, a few were after my "tasty cargo" (which was courier missions they couldn't steal). I always found it hilarious that Viper Mk 3s, Vultures, etc. could keep up with my 25 to 30 ly leaps over and over again. I guess they had a lot of FSD boosts crafted and ready to go. [wacky]
Since 2.1, I have NOT seen this. Instead, I often get new spawns in each system - usually while NOT doing a mission - that are 80% FDLs, 10% FAS, and the remaining 10% other ships. I think someone needs to look at the RNG table for spawns...
ahh yes. strawmen, deflection, false premises.
For lack of any supporting evidence, I suppose you have to get creative.
Awe, so you're a member of the "debate team".
Feel free to get creative with this:
-Who are you who so needs "convincing"?
It was one of the first things I looked for in 2.1. Thankfully it's only happened twice since 2.1 went live. I had stacked several missions and, after a few jumps, an Elite NPC Vulture decided to hunt me down. After my Asp Explorer was successfully interdicted, I decided to high-wake out to a system ~30LY away to escape, the plan being to jump back to the mission system. The Vulture appeared immediately after the 30LY system loaded, and this time I decided to submit to the interdiction so I could quickly boost and high-wake back to the mission system. Once again, the same NPC immediately appeared and attempted to interdict me. This time I managed to avoid it.If that's the case, then you should definitely send a bug report to the devs.
So you ran from someone and they chased you....and that doesn't make sense to you. Did you ever try fighting and winning the interdiction (I know, what a novel idea) or fighting the NPC (again...so novel). You can't expect to just run and not be chased. How about this, want to meet me in a system and see how many times I can interdict you before you get to a station, I'd bet it'll be more than just 6 times.
Yes, I ran. I also escaped successfully every time. What's your point? That I should enjoy playing Groundhog Day with the same NPC and the same interdiction with the same dialogue over and over again because happens to be there?
Am I not allowed to find that mechanic tedious and overly excessive?
Am I not allowed to tell the developers "that is not making for a 'fun' experience, please get a handle on it"?
Please, tell me since when does it mean that I automatically have to enjoy something just because it currently exists a certain way.
Your frustration is understandable. Getting repeatedly interdicted is very annoying. But here is a suggestion and let me know what you think. Why not just post a thread, "Keep getting interdicted. Any way to avoid this?" See if you get any good responses. Try them out and see if things improve.
You already got plenty of good responses. They may not work in all circumstances but they should drastically reduce the frequency of interdictions you experience.
It would also be nice to know what ship you're using, what defenses you have equipped, your shields, etc. Maybe a different loadout would also help.
Ultimately, what you want is a solution. Changing the game is one solution but we should first be sure there is no strategy change that could address your problem.
This is a big and complicated game. No one knows everything there is to know, right?
