Horizons Game is terribly unfriendly to new players - umplayeble!!!

It does not change the FACT that the game is terribly bad for new players, including interim.
This fact - FACT - is narrated by dozens of players. This does not change anything, say 'I think it's good.' AIs are extremely aggressive and extremely powerful weapons, including low rank.

Fair enough, but the expectation should be improve one's skill, not demand Frontier make it easier simply because the game kicked your butt. :/

The game is 'impossible' as is.

I cleared my save (several times) when Engineers dropped, I've made ~25mil in about a week and died three times. Do I have a lot of experience? Yes, BUT, that doesn't change the behaviour of the NPC: the low rank AI is aggressive, but it's not difficult, their weapons are normal but are more accurate and their hulls are stronger. That's it.

It's not impossible, it just has a steep learning curve.

You type: "Go be miserable somewhere else."

So...

Just a comment, the FACT no change - game is terrible to new players - if u ofend me...or another guy.

If you don't want advice on how to get better at the game, yes. Please go be miserable somewhere else. It adds nothing to the community.

If you want to learn how to have fun and do well at the game. Ask. I and many others would be happy to help, even join you in game to help.

Bleating on about how it's "impossible" and refusing to accept advice is ridiculous and stupid.

Earlier, the forum Steam, another player commented that the Frontier was seeing or studying changes in the level of difficulty of the NPCs. I do not know whether it will have no relation to the rank of pilot or will soften NPCs with lower ranks, so I would.

Lower rank AI's are less aggressive, less accurate, less skilled and have weaker weapons. The higher the rank of the NPC, the tougher it will be.
This is already in effect, for example, I can easily see the difference between an Elite NPC and a Novice one.

The problem is players not looking at the difficulty of their target, or of rushing their way to a big ship and then getting surprised when it isn't as pew-pew-god-mode as they thought.
An Elite NPC in an Eagle could hurt, possibly killed, a Novice player in a 'Conda.
The game is largely skill based. If someone can't be bothered to improve their skill, that's their own look out.

I have plenty of respect for you as a human being. I have zero respect for the idea of demanding that the game be changed because you refuse
to ask for advice or tips.

Ask me, I'll help.

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=261710 and have more 1000 like this.

Low rank have extreme DPS after update. intermediary rank, extreme shield, armor and DPS (in eagle). Need rebalance. I no like 'easy' game, but to hard, more less. :)

Did you see him asking for advice? He complained that an NPC ALMOST killed him, he did not want to know why it happened, he just wanted things to be easier.

Add me in the game right now. I'll come to where you are and help.

Please. Accept my offer. This game is skill based, you need someone to help you understand how to play.

Friend, i put here just a idea, nothing more. Maybe we're reading it wrong 'language expressions'. 'Umplayable = VERY, extreme hard, frustating, etc.

have you seen the responses in that thread?

Basically everyone is saying:
A: Asp has paper thin shields
B: Asp loadout was bad.

After the 2.1 all you have to do is simply, being more careful. You have to pay attention in what systems you fly in, what ship loadout you have, what ranks are NPC.
The days when you could go 'rambo' style are over.

Pay attention to what you are doing and you'll be fine.

Today i kill with help security forces: + 10 phyton, + 10 Conda, etc. in ring planet (hight). I death some times (normal for my ship - Diamond Explorer). Maybe more low rank in zone extraction 'hight'. A Eagle Imperial kill me fast last time.

Oh, thanks. :)

Honest to God, I have never had a single issue with any NPC, unless I took on more than I could chew (Elite FDL's, Vultures etc), and that's me in an A-specced DBS.

Nobody has problems if they watch what they're doing. It's a completely reasonable setup that's going to be ruined.

So many gamers are used to the arrow pointing them towards their goal. If they level up enough, they will always win. This is not Elite.

There is no leveling up. There is no scrap that might not kill you. You have to be careful and plan correctly. This is fun. Being assured of victory is boring.

Oh, thanks. :)

Did you do it? I'll log in right now if you did.

I'm really sorry that people come to public, use valuable time reporting their experiences and are treated as nobies unprepared.
The experience of that person can be correct.
On my first impression I thought very unfriendly game. Don't quit because I hate being defeated (bad temper) hahahaha and i find friends who help me a lot, this comunity is owesome

It's their approach and the tone of the post that sets the tone of their responses.
"QQ DIS SUKS DONKIES WE HATES IT PRECIOUS!" is going to elicit a similar response; "LUL SCRUB, GIT GUD!"
But if a player expresses their concern and desire for advice and assistance in a mature, and reasonable post .. they are going to find the responses of a mature and reasonable nature.

I'd hazard a guess to say the longest serving members of this community, the ones with the most experience, have not been children for a long time and are well into their 30's, 40's and 50's. They have their own children to worry about and don't really want to have to deal with it here, ergo:

  1. Post like a spoiled child, you'll get treated like a child.
  2. Post like an adult, and you'll get treated like an adult.

Could speak of NPCs, but everyone knows that we are having problems with aggression, level of NPCs and their 'magical weapons' (they are too DPS). But I will stick now, the system of penalties.

If you accidentally hit a ship 'friend' - and my rank in a system is 'ally', the security forces will kill you. Worse, there's even a chance for you to pay a fine without being docked at a station, only you will orrer attempting dock in a station by the same security forces that are your 'friends'.

This does not make any sense. One thing is to achieve with a simple shot a ship whatsoever, nothing to produce this ship, quite another you shoot down a friend or neutral name.

The game balancing is TERRIBLE. I do not know what happens if the team developers hate new players - and I believe so or are completely wrong about 'gameplay' and fun.

ED became a headache. But because we are playing anyway? Because pay for expensive game and the expansion. Because we like the original game idea and not this 'thing' terrible that has been transforming the ED.

Watching the introduction videos do help.

However I agree with you and many other new players. So what can be done without nerfing the game?

1. Place the new players in a nursing system, this system should have a very high security.
2. In game possibility to hire protection by veteran ED players, because new players don't have any money, a system should be in place where the pilot federation issue a free coupon with 2 - 3 free protection wingmen missions for the new player. Th eveteran ED player are paid by the Pilot federation to protect the newcomer, this could also make the new players get in to the game faster.
3. Give the possibilities to join the Navy, you are enrolled in the Navy and will do missions issued by them, as long as you contract run you can't do anything else, and if you run you will be hunted down. This could give new players an option to get protected and do missions in one go, you won't make any money but when your contract is over you will be given some money and reputation.

I don't know. I'm a newbie, as green as grass, and I've been playing for three days (couple of hours each day). Of course, I haven't removed the training wheels yet, meaning I'm still in solo mode (just until I get the hang of it, I promise!).

Since I was a backer, I got a free Eagle Mk II . . . which I found only after I'd done some exploration in my Sidewinder.

So far, I've been intercepted only once, by what I think was a Viper Mk III. My hull was down to 1% when the fight was over, but I did get the NPC, and I got a hefty bounty, too (20,900 Credits -- I was patting myself on the back for half an hour afterwards!).

Several hours later, this is still the only combat incident I've experienced.

This game is definitely not something for casual gamers who expect to be held by the hand, but man, it offers something if you take the time and try to learn something.

Incidentally, and hilariously enough, yesterday I bit the dust. I was a courier mission, had to do multiple jumps, and did not think to refuel or at least buy a fuel scoop. So, there I was all of a sudden, skosh fuel and the next inhabitated system totally out of reach . . . in my Eagle Mk II, no less. Well, I had insurance, so I just committed suicide. That's life.

Even though I haven't scratched the surface, I can tell this game will keep me amused for many, many, MANY hours.

I'd also like to thank the people here. This forum offers tons of helpful advice, and it is definitely one of the most newbie-friendly ones.

Cheers,

DDM_Reaper20 (mostly harmless/pennyless)

What are you talking about?
Maybe I try to be pretty basic, for the thought doesn't get lost in translation.
But you don't read enough to comment, just let me now about of yours first impression as I speak or at least try to.
Thanks for nothing, as we say in my country.

I was saying that the way people post on forum, sets the tone for the entire thread, example: if someone posts like a child, they'll get treated like one.
