To OP: The Asp does not need a buff. It is perfectly suited for its role. It is not a combat ship. live with it. It is one of the best thought out ships in game. Remodel your playstyle.

Buff the Asp?

It does'nt need one, ok the engineer's stuff looks good (not that I've bothered any engineers, far too busy for that line of work)

All you need for an Asp is 30 million credits (and 1.5 million for the insurance) and that gets you an A rated Asp, with 72 ton cargo capacity, military armor, 4 lasers on the small points (gimballed beams are my fav) and a pair of multi-cannons on the med points for that dakk dakka dakka noise when shredding anything smaller than you(and taking a large bite out of anything bigger), 25 Ly jump range and can out run anything apart from a viper or a cobra in normal space.
Stir in a certifiable pilot(my wingmates found that out last night when I rammed a vulture, stuck my thrusters on full and gave him hell with the cannons from about 2 meters away(and yes, I could see the pilot in the cockpit just before the ship exploded) and you have one of the best ships in E D

You clearly didn't read the entire thread. I would like to see all medium and below excluding the Fas get a buff. Please read the entire post before making your negative commits. All forms of negativity should be banned on this forum. You people are going to ruin the game with your negativity. Look what happened to the Python look what happened to Shield cell Banks and now look what has happened to Silent Running. Mr. Braben I plead with you not to listen to these naysayers. They will eventually ruin the game for everyone. Then they will move on to another game and ruined it. This has been going on for a long time. A lot of games have been ruined by negativity.

There are a few ships which are just gimped because they were never designed correctly to begin with, but all in all things are in a good place right now in the small ship world. What really makes this post laughable though is that you chose to use a ship that is perfectly fine and doesn't need to be touched as your example, completely nullifying any merit your proposition had.

The aspx is not a combat ship. It can function in that capacity but not like a ship that was designed to fight. That is how it's supposed to be. It is already insanely good at exploration and smuggling. It can't be the best at everything.

If anything the ASPX just needs more yaw, because everyone who's flown one (untuned) knows that that's the biggest weakness of that thing.
I still like mine, wish it would still be my original one but nah, some           skimmer decided that it needed to suicide into it while I took a SRV ride around the place and make the whole place blow it up : (

I like the Asp, it's fantastic for exploration, & fairly decent in a fair number of other roles. And in terms of the current situation in the game, it makes sense that it's designed the way it is. It's fairly fragile at combat because it's not designed as a combat ship, because it doesn't *need* to be a combat ship. I mean, who is going to be shooting at you 5000LY away from the Bubble?

Or at least that has been the case until now.

If we start running into hostile alien races out in the Black, and you start having to use the AspE as more often in a combat role, then wouldn't it make more sense to produce an upgraded AspE Mk II, or design an entirely new, more survivable, exploration ship, rather than making the existing AspE more powerful through a bit of handwavium on the part of FD? We keep saying we want the game to feel more alive, to have a greater sense of presence. Don't you think seeing upgraded, or entirely new ships in response to a changing situation, would lend a little of that?

Because it's the most popular ship in game I expected to see more stuff for it in the store. I would pay for a better more plush dash and maybe drop the floor so I can see out the bottom as well as the top of the canopy.

Dash paint maybe and make it sound cooler please! Atm it sounds like an old WW1 bomber not a space ship!

Only thing I want for that bug_ger (why's this a bad word again?) is either 2 additional C1 slots for the scanners or a 2xC1 C2 module so I can cram both into one atleast : /
Then I could use the free room for a docking computer xD

I almost exclusively fly an AspX lately.

Please do not buff it, nerf it or something, I'm having a hard time finding a reason to fly anything else. Great range, can survive CZs if you keep situational awareness, good storage etc etc.

I have used an asp explorer for some time. It is NOT a dedicated exploration vessel. It can do it all. It has the weaponry to hunt, it can carry as much as a t6, it just has a nice long jump range. I have used the asp explorer for bounty hunting, it works quite well. The asp scout is more agile, less heavily armed, and less armored that its big brother. the asp scout is like a long-range cobra.

How is the Mahon Retributor now?
In the beta it was insane. An Asp with four of them could cook any ship in seconds. With mods they were even more crazy.

They reduced the multiplying effect of heat. But I imagine that if you got a Thermal mod on all your retributors, it might be similarly insane. Though the actual direct damage is total crap iirc. So a heat sink or two could mean you're doing nearly zero damage in the time it takes to shred an Asp.

Yes. Taking on a high rank FAS in one can be done, but it's a workout and the outcome is not assured.
