I killed 7 ships from the faction that is in 'civil unrest' and 0 improvised components dropped. Also 0 listed as mission reward by any faction in the system.

Anyone having better luck? Are they found more in USS?

I've been getting them from missions. I've tried USS and killing wanted faction ships in civil unrest to no avail. Also found some on planetary surfaces but that is rare.


One of the few materials that needs another look.

With all this materials tied to system states - search in encoded emissions USS in deep space in system with required state. Usually takes no more than 10-15 minutes to find them.

Well, I spent another 2 hrs searching. I tried an hour in USS (encoded/degraded) in a CU system, mission board for about 30 min (running one or two missions, not sitting and refreshing), and about 30 min at the nav beacon.

No Imp components.

Throwing chicken bones at the computer and chanting a bit is my next move.

So I was able to find out it needs to be the systems controlling faction and that the system its self needs to be in civil unrest.

The second thing I would suggest is doing to 'deep space' instead of shipping lanes. I seem to get better luck looking for them there. Though I have not really put a whole lot of time to see if it is significant enough.

Yup, that's what Gammaz said in this thread, so that's what I tried the second time. I made sure I was at least 500LS from the main star and it said "deep space" in the hud. I'm in yet another system with controlling faction in CU, and I'm going to try to rep up with them via missions and see if it drops as a mission reward. Not much else to try, really.

Well, maybe someone moved a lever somewhere, but not 60 sec out of dock, I got my IC's.

FWIW: Controlling faction in CU, Anarchy, in 'deep space', Encoded USS, within 500 LS of main star. I was heading out of dock away from the main star when the USS popped with the goodies.

RNGesus was NOT with me on the first attempt. This was coming from a lvl 2 shield mod:

I pre planned 8 rolls for my grade 5 shield and ended up with this on the last roll.

8 Re-rolls. That'd be ballsy for me, since I'm having so much trouble finding those IC's.

I'm now on the hunt for Polonium. I will check back with you in 2018. :p

For me I found it easier to get them from missions, from boom state systems. However Shinrarta A1 also produced good results. Land around flat lands and head in one direction and ignore everything that does not drop polonium.
