Engineers We all love this game

All the complaining over the flaws of the recent update is showing me one thing... we all love this game more than most titles out there.

Normally, if something bothers me in a game, i move on to the next...
I played the original ELITE back in 1985 on my C64 and David and his crew made my (and many others) childhood dreams came true. I can't and hopefully never will put this game aside.
No Man's Sky: will be nice and i will play it, but i don't think it last as long as ED
Star Citizen: With every month i lose more faith... i backed it early on, but i don't think it would ever feel as good as ED.

I bought a 200€ HOTAS just for ELITE Dangerous. Ordered the Oculus Rift (over 700€) (ships in August) only because of ED and I have to buy a new RIG this summer to make it playable in VR.
I am spending over 2500€ just to play this absolutely brilliant game in the best way possible.

And this love for ED is the reason I am (and i think many of us) complaining so much about the recent flaws came up with the last update.
And we are impatient, i know... i can't stop playing despite of all things that bothers me in the current version.

I know FD is working hard to iron out the most stuff we are whining about... and this need time...

I want you guys to know how much i love your work and can't wait to see what's coming this winter... :) ...and in the next years.

greetings from Germany [heart]

Yep we do, thats why we laugh & cry & moan about it constantly. It's the best space sim/game around right now & it's only gonna get better.

damn, i thought this was click-bait to get me in here for another thread of doom and gloom, and chants of "ED is dead!"

what's with this positive attitude on the forums?? i'm so confused...

I bought a new PC 2 months ago. Cost me £1000. So far ED is the only game I've installed. Just not had time for anything else yet :)

Yep, definitely love it. Warts and all.

I do play other stuff to help keep it fresh.I also don't lurk around any other gaming forums for any length of time. Not a day goes by without me hanging around here like a bad smell. :D

I loved the concept, and had waited decades, but hate the implementation.
I will continue to play but will not buy more expansions due disappointment with the direction of development.

You uh, you won't fit in here. This forum here is the collection of all hate in the known universe :p

(Yes that was a joke).

Yep I can't help feel most of the whine comes from that Elite does lots well so people feel the need to complain extra hard about the bits that arn't as perfect..

Life pass, but will keep shooting which point disappointing !

I think I had a glimmer of what this update was intended to be, yesterday. The RNG gods for whatever reason decided to give me a break from the nearly constant interdictions I've been encountering, and I had only 2 random interdictions in over 8 hours of play. Since I've been having them almost every other jump into a system it was a welcome change. I'm sure it'll be back to it's annoying frequency today but...

During this odd moment of relative peace, I took a mission that I knew would be a little difficult, because it was a higher-ranked one with a medium payout. Sure enough, I was attacked during the mission by an NPC of the appropriate level for the mission, Master, in a Vulture (I was in a Python and I'm rated Expert). It was a little tense for me, but I expected it because I took the mission on purpose. I'm not much of a combat pilot, but I decided to stick it out and give it a try. System Security showed up and helped me in the end, and I succeeded in killing the pirate with their help.

This was enlightening. I was able to weigh the risk vs reward, decided to take a chance, and managed to get through it without a bunch of other annoying interruptions by random NPCs of higher level. I got to see the mission system in action, the way it should work.

And it was fun. I was thinking to myself, "If only it could always be this way, where I could choose at least to some extent the risk I'm taking, instead of being at risk all the time, everywhere I go, with nothing I can do to increase or decrease it."

It's really a shame that the bugs are overshadowing the good in this update. There's some good gameplay underneath it all.

I had to wait 20+ years... worth it! I feel im home when i grab my controls. Even my wife cant interdict my FSD. :D I submit when i want to. I hope FD's developement plans will turn reality.

Thx David and all the Devs!

I'm in a similar position to you, played the original on the C64 and loved it. I love Elite Dangerous as much as the first and can see where the game is going, they messed up a little with the engineers and they will get it sorted. For all the moaning I do and others do it's mostly because we love playing this game and want to see it fixed. I also bought into SC early and wished now that I had not, although I don't believe what Derek Smart says about SC (lets face it he has made some of the most bug ridden dreadful games ever he is the clown of game development and debate) SC is still a long way off from being completed if it ever will, if not it will be one of the biggest failures in game development history. As for No Mans Sky, I will get it but it's a different experience that ED, I love the art style of NMS.

I love the game! It's the first one in a long time that has me looking at building a spiffy new rig to max out the graphics and buff the frame rates. Thank you FD!

We love it and want it to be better than it is.

We want it to fulfill the prophecy...

100% this.

I think a large part of the problem is the development seasons having a time schedule.
They do not implement each release very well, to me it lacks good design decisions. Somewhat rushed.
Most of what they have already implemented has stayed as is. Flawed and incomplete.

But, like others who want it to become what it can be, hope remains.
Just keep in mind....it is their game.

Built myself a new rig for this as well.
Played Elite since the original on the Spectrum 48k but this current version is slipping away from the original quite rapidly.
Powerplay, CQC, Engineers all have failed to impress for me.

Next game update needs to really kick some or I'm packing it in.

I do love it.
I bough a Hotas set only for this game, I upgraded my graphic card sorely for Elite.
It is because I love that I get emotional and actually get somewhat angry at what happens with the game development.

So, yeah.

I love it but I want to get ride of all "dirtyness".
Peoples whines but some complain in order to make Elite the greatest and propose idea.

Please stop fighting and debate for greater good.

Bought myself a new yacht, with a dedicated server room with satelite dish, so I can play this game Fantastic everywhere!
I can sit on sundeck with VR and just play. I am so happy.

/ reality on

Cheers Cmdr's
