Engineers Possible quick fix for the cargo storage issue…

This will not help everyone, but for those that have cargo ships, why not let us use them and transfer the cargo to and from the other ships
i.e. like the SRV to the Ship on the surface, this means we would still have to have a cargo hold on the fighters for what is needed for the upgrades, but it's better than nothing.

You can already do it. You need a second computer and a second account. I just transferred all 52T of my exotic cargo to my Python in my other account. Now I can go back to the RES at last.

I'll just repeat myself everywhere:

pick up commodity reward missions that finish before claiming the rewards and leave those at the station until you need them.

Transactions tab will help you remember what commodities you have stored where.

Don't bother keeping anything you are forced to pick up unless you can use it right away. Just sell it (preferably to an engineer that gives you rep in return) or trade with a player.

erm what did you do and how?

I don't understand what you're saying here. Pick up commodity reward missions that finish? Or...maybe I'm being dense, but I don't understand what you're suggesting.

All missions that don't require you to turn something in (delivery/courier/haulage/liberate/salvage/source/...) can be completed in space with the rewards still waiting for you at the station - no time limit. Just leave them stored there.

That doesn't leave much. So...kill missions?

Destroy skimmers are the easiest as you can always find wanted ones on the target planet.

Destroy generators/ships/anything else works too.

The quick and sane fix would be to make the mission-only cargo commodities buyable in specific places, like the rest are.

That's an interesting "solution". What scares me is that after I come back to the game (after balances have been made to engineers/rng) I am actually considering it.

Many of us have two or more accounts. Luckily, I had been doing some experiments in how fast one could make half a billion before 1.6, so I had two extra accounts with that much in. I'm also lucky enough to have two X52s and two PCs, so I put one next to the other, logged on with two different commanders, joined them in a private group and flew to the same station. I then met myself outside the station and dropped the special cargo from one Python and collected it by collector limpets in the other. When everything was transferred, I parked the 2nd account Python in the station and logged off. I can now always go back and transfer that cargo back when I need it. I have enough money for another three Pythons in that account, so that should be enough storage.

If you're comfortable using a keyboard and mouse, you can use a laptop or something similar for the second account. The second account costs £20 if you don't already have one.

It's a bit of messing about to transfer the cargo, and it wastes time, but I was getting interdicted everywhere I went and RES farming was impossible because I never knew when I was going to be attacked, though it never took very long. Carrying this cargo is a bit of a nuisance!

This work-around might not suit everyone, but it's very convenient for me.

People used to use "mules" in Asheron's call too .. was quite funny people going behind a bush to drop stuff and log out.. log back in and get the stuff.
