I will try to stay as constructive as possible...
Like others I´m not 100% happy with the new collecting meta in the game. I feel I´m spending too much time on things I wouldn´t do otherwise. I understand that it can´t be too easy to get the grade 5 stuff - but please FD, come up with some better ideas to aquire that stuff.
Atm I´m flying around in a system checking every USS for military plans. The reward is 1 (one) pharmaceutical isolator. Just one. After half an hour and 20 USS later there are no mil plans anywhere. Scanning USS was never a task I preferred to do, now I (almost) have to.
Apart from the highly illogical mechanic, just fly around and an USS will eventually pop up with all the stuff one is looking for, it´s dull. Dull. Dull. Boring. I just don´t want to do this. So maybe FD can develop another way, a more specific way to get to that stuff, like a certain NPC has got this and that, gotta kill him or hatch break the cargo bay to get it. Space is big - too big to "just find" things, especially the ones I am looking for atm. This is silly.
This is about materials. The next thing is commodities.
Why are there special commodities I can´t buy? They have been manufactured somewhere, so my logic tells me someone ought to sell them.
For example, what about Core Dynamic composites? Wouldn´t it be nice to just buy them? Maybe a certain Fed rank should be minumum requirement to obtain them. The problem with not being able to buy certain commodities for the engineers is leading to the discussion about storage - and there are more than enough threads about that. The fun fact about these Core Dynamic composites is that they can be found in USSs only (maybe missions too, idk). Encoded USS, thread 0. For a grade 5 item...... come on.
It´s ok if the high level stuff is hard to get. But it should be hard because of a tough opponent to beat, not because of the time spent to finally get the right USS/combat ship/transport ship.
Imagine these missions get harder the higher the level of stuff you want to have - it would be a perfect regulator for the game. As one would need a proper ship to get the higher stuff. It would reflect better on those who played this game a lot, like myself. Also I feel i could get something really special that I can work for. Now it´s mostly random, everyone can get every mat/com, so everyone is going for the level 5 upgrades. Level 1-4 are almost useless.
Increasing the difficulty in getting the higher stuff the lower levels would become more interesting.
Final words: I´m an elite pilot, over 9 weeks playtime. Loving the game. FD, respect my time, don´t spoil my fun in this game. Apply more logic, less time sink. And make it really tough.
