Writing this before the release of Mass Effect Andromeda is purely hypothetical, but getting it out is important.
Events after the final scenes from ME3 have been running through my mind for years.
1: The title Andromeda opens up the question of whether or not there were an army of Reapers for EVERY galaxy. The original trilogy, as big as it was, was
confined to the Milky Way.
2: If there were Reaper armies in the voids of deep space, ready to strike all galaxies with advanced races, then that would fortify the idea of more than one
Citadel-like structure in each galaxy that contained space-faring species. This would also lead to the idea that there was more than one Aspect of the
Catalyst in existence to oversee the final hours of intelligent life.
3: The endings of ME3, as convoluted as they were, gave insight to the Catalyst. It is defined as an ancient AI, in simplest terms: it was created at some
point. The multiple choice endings allow the player to believe that some God-like being with the ability to alter reality itself, has a hand in all of this.
Paraphrasing from above: An Artificial Intelligence with the ability to alter reality. A mortal being became a God. Something the think about.
4: The male Commander Shepards legacy can easily be carried on with one word: pregnancy. 20 years after the death of Shepard, the child from whomever he
romanced in the series could easily step up as the new protagonist. Liara (Human/Asari), Ashley, Jack, Miranda (Human/Human), Tali was least likely to be
compatible with a human in regards to procreation.
