Ship tried to kill me, 3 times !

(Yes I know ship will not land on top of me, and I know I can load non-horizons to get out of my quandary :) )

I was tearing around Beagle Point 9 in my SRV when I got DCd, then it happened twice more. I gave up and came back on just now.
I decided to recall ship and go elsewhere.
First recall : I moved away, then towards it, as it looked pretty close when it was coming down. I soon realised I had a low rider :D

2nd recall : This time I looked up to make sure I would be ok, nope :D I went backwards, then towards ship after it landed, no under carriage again.
Look at my tyre tracks, they are where I stood when making the recall :)

3rd recall : I said to myself "I am not moving" , close :D
(still no wheels)

4th recall : Yay, persistance paid off :)
(I cheated, I moved about 2 km away from the twilight zone :D )

Nice :)

I had a similar situation recently. I was searching for mats and ended up in an hilly region. Got bored and called back my ship. Usually it would land a few 100 meters away, where it can land, but this time it descended down right above my srv. In fear of getting smashed, i drove a few meters backwards and looked at it. It ended up hovering like 20 meters above ground with thrusters still active. I thought "ok, ive encounterd a bug". It didnt land, it was just hovering on a place where it couldnt land. Then i realized, that the vehicle hangar was active and i decided to just drive beneath of it. I could board the ship from there. I dont know if it really was a bug, but i could board and enter my ship. It was awesome, like an emergency rescue from a helicopter

haha, I have also heard of ships stopping slightly higher and Cmdrs trying to boost up to it !

Personally I think the 2.1 AI has corrupted my ship, don't know whether to rage quit ED or start a poll....

I had that same situation on BP2 on that huge crater. Been driving up the crater walls for hours only to find the inside of the walls were very steep and hilly so no more than 5m/s were doable.
after about half an hour of driving (and sometimes rolling) downhill i finally recalled the ship and it came down about 2 shiplengths in front of me, its rear facing me. No landing gear deployed and it couldn't land because of the hills and the general 50°+ angle.
dismissed again and recalled and finally on my 3rd attempt i had the distance right so that it came down right on top of a spike. It hovered there until i had boarded. I think it's a feature to allow us to board our ships when sitting somewhere around nowhere with unlandable terrain in every direction. i like it :)

I raised 'not landing' recently as a bug, and was told that it does that when it cannot find a flat area on which to land. You are supposed to be able to board the ship in those circumstances, if you line up with the hangar.

Check my piccies, we are talking of BP9, flat as a pancake outside the craters :D
p.s. I couldn't board, it was too low.

I dunno... those red taillights on the SRV might appear awfully similar to the mating display of the common Asp (V. Aspis. Stellaris) if viewed from orbit...

After all that time out on its own, an Asp's gotta do what an Asp's gotta do.

Didnt we we have something like this with an Ananconda and a Type 9?
