I was no closer than 7k. Somewhere between 9 and 10K I was on my return from SCHEAU HYOUE YN-G B3-0. All my mods were at about 90+% and a couple of unsed ones were in the 80s. I stopped to make sure everything was in the 90% and boom. I wonder was it life support but nope it coudldnt have been because that was okay and even if it wasnt Id have at least seven minutes to notice. This was in bout 1 to 2 minutes. I cannot think of anything that would have been my fault while parked that would have killed me. And switching to the main screen because something felt wrong to see panels drifting off was bizarre. I made the pit stop for minor repairs because something felt odd. Are miss-jumps / failed jumps a thing now because that's the kind of odd it felt like?

EDIT - there;s a very good chance I just messed up and dint notice. I'm knew to exploration

Thats unfortunate :(

Maybe report it as a bug and see what FDev have to say about it.

I send my condolences,

Omate.

Holy smoke! Something killed me on the way back. I made a pit stop to repair modules under 80% and while was doing it bang! No joke, I was all good and then something shattered me. I dont think this was just a muckup. Something battered the pooop out of me while I was looking at a side screen to check repairs so I never saw it. If it was a exploration school boy error sorry. But but but really my eyebrows are on the ceiling. Something just felt wrong so I swapped to main proper view from repairs and saw bits of my ship breaking off. I mean breaking off. Not an explosion but fragmenting. It was quick but I saw panels shifting like they had been peeled away. I was on my way back from about 11k. It really could be a new explorers mistake but this was like lightening. All mods on over 80 except cargo, fuel scoop and perhaps Adv' scanner. If this is just tosh, ignore me. New to exploration.

Can you recall your exact situation at the time?

- Were you in space or on a planetary body?
- Were you moving at all, or at a dead stop (relative to the local body)?
- Did you have shields?
- Can you recall the system you were in?

Sounds like heat buildup.

Stands suddenly ripping off Tin foil fez and tossing it to floor. at the same time as spilling full cup of standard ships tea and plate of biscuits.

Looks like things just got real!

This is why Fdev have been so Quiet. This is why we have engineers now, they flicked a switch didn't they with 2.1 and they are just letting things happen. Achnar and Sol have just been infected random ships/stations going missing or being destroyed. We are going to need all the help we can get this isn't a rehearsal anymore Guy/Gals. I don't think we are going to need anymore hints from MB!

Something big is about to happen BIG

All the people complaining about this isn't fair that isn't fair SINCE 2.1 well you know WHAT.! WE ARE ALL HISTORY!!!

Powering up Alliance vessel Python Hammer. im off to a safe distance with my crew of singing Potatoes.

Good luck everyone, good luck. o7

lmao!

Speaking of Astros making sounds in the map and all that, would it be possible that planets with something special in them have certain sounds hidden into it?

No I think you're safe and that's something properly wierd.

Fragmenting and peeling off like a 3d graphical bug or.....? Were there any contacts on the scanners?

How would you feel about being Victim #1?

Did you use any modified system (FSD, thrusters etc.) of the engineers? If so, maybe this caused the malfunction?

Hi Chaps,

Where should I go while I am out here?

What's to see?

What is this place called?

Why am I here and how can I help?

Can I go further out?

This is the second time I have been explorin. I am a complete novice so don't now any of the terms, nothing abiyt start tyoes or anything sciency.

Screen shots and system name would help.

Treat me like a remote control camera and tell me what to look at and I'll report back.

Explorer in training Ben Ryder.

Sign up to EDSM to get an account and key. Download & install EDDiscovery (v3.2.5 is the latest), insert your EDSM key, synchronise with EDSM. You will then have a mechanism for displaying in 3D your recent travels (since 2.1 FD has provided the system coordinates in the downlink when you enter a system; before 2.1 you needed to have Verboselogging enabled & every so often trilaterate the position of your current system against that of several others with EDSM-known positions) and the travels of others also signed up to EDSM; this makes finding unexplored areas easier. There are some 2D maps in EDD which can be used as a backdrop; a couple are for the Rift and the CoR listening posts/patrol areas.
Have fun, fly safe, scan lots of things (you should have an Advanced Discovery Scanner plus a Detailed Surface Scanner), and if you come across any Thargoids be nice & don't be aggressive, give them a cup of tea but remember no chocolate biscuits- it makes them hiveractive.

It sounds like Heat build up to me too. What ship are you flying?

Simlpe question from a simple guy.

What do earth line planets look like on the system map. There are a lot of blueish planets but what makes an earth like stand dout. I figure as Im kinda of far out I might aw well keep a look out for them. I dont mean how to track them down. jus how to spot them on the system map.

Rich Tea? Dont mind If I do :D

sorry to hear about your mishap!!

Just for the record, yesterday I crashed a ship with an UA in the cargo hold into the emergency drop zone of Merope star, and dropped the UA to check its behavior in the star's corona. For science.

As a result of the experiment I can inform that UA still points down to the center of the star, or to a spot way deeper than we can reach with our current technology. I took the Sundiver down for about ten minutes without results.

Funny thing is, ten minutes after leaving the sun's corona I could talk with another CMDR who had made the same experiment two months ago...

For science!.

Has anyone been to Alioth lately, to see if there are reports of infections?

Fungal infections, alien parasites, attaches to nervous system without adverse effects.

The smell of INRA science is strong here. Someone may have access to the files and ex. personnel from the research arm and want to soften the super-powers from within.

Are the Alliance involved in this or will they get in trouble as well?
