Thrustmaster to develop a HOTAS in conjuction with FD

Great news!

My x55 buttons is starting to failing on the throttle and sticks jaw friction is so annoying.

I was thinking about buying a Warthog, but it is so expensive and no jaw in the stick. So I think I will wait and see what this one will be like :)

Put some silicon grease around the spring plate that moves to fix the sticking.

Funny you should say that, its exactly what I did last night to mine - made no difference what so ever. Fine movement from the center to the right is a real pain in the butt, getting a smooth movement is impossible and the stick creeks as you slowly move it and you feel step like resistance. Fast movements are fine though.

That said I'll be upgrading the stick when I can afford to. I love the x55 throttle though, it has great functionality which leaves a bit of an issue for me, warthog stick only or buy the stick and throttle just in case my x55 throttle gives up in the future....

Back on topic, I'm a little disappointed by that Thrustmaster, I'd hoped to see something a little more high end from them and not something plastic. Can't say I would find the amount of buttons on the base of the stick to be a great idea, particularly in combat where my hand is firmly on my stick at all times. Personally I think those buttons would be better placed on the throttle.

It looks nice... I think this is going to be a cheaper HOTAS. (I haven't looked at the link, so if there is a price, tell me)

But I don't think I could replace my X52 with it. I'm hoping the X56 proves to have good build quality myself.

Already have a T.16000M - delighted with it.

The various articles mention the fact that the stick is ambidextrous - no mention of the throttle - so I assume that it is only for use with the left hand - that's a pity.

This might be a good upgrade for me although when I am playing on the couch my current T-Flight works well with the throttle and stick locked together. Price is right. Worrisome actually. Wonder where the corners are cut?

It will just be a good thing to have more options out there, and $120 is actually a pretty good price-point, if this thing can actually handle Elite Dangerous (since even with my X52 I'm almost out of buttons).

Not bad. I might have waited had I known, but I'm happy enough with my t.flight hotas :)
I have a T-Flight, but I use a Logitech joystick with the T.Flight throttle as it has a LOT more buttons to define.

Yes and no. All fighter cockpits (At least the ones I've worked on) have the throttles on the left side of the pilot. I'm left handed, but this should not cause any issues for me.

My sole criticism is there should be a secondary fire thumb button on the side of the stick where the thumb is. Index finger should rest on the on primary fire and thumb should rest on the secondary for instant use. Rest looks awesome, but I will be re-mapping controls quite a bit to make them flow better.
