Any estimates for what altitude or distance a barnacle becomes visible at? I only know you can't see them from orbital cruise.

Hello. I am just a random person out exploring that follows this thread. I am right beside Jellyfish and Rosetta is next. I don't ever see them mentioned, is it pointless checking there? I did take a quick look ( a few hours ) in Jellyfish but since people are finding more barnacles now I think I want to take another look.

Thanks.

I did it in silent running and ice cold. No reaction from the Capship, to me or the UA. Long ago though.

The UAs were looking for a ship (theory). Well let them have at it. Maybe it was this one. haha if you have the guts to try it. I cant find anymore probes so I would if I had one. Just drop and run.

It's like when you light one of those dangerous fireworks aimed in a dangerous direction. Light it and run.

I cant seem to get much further past the Witch head nebula. I occasionally come out for a few thousand LY just for a break from "The bubble" visiting various nebulae. Most systems beyond are permit locked or my routing will not complete.
Could it be my jump range, about 27lys or am I doing something wrong? It was normally ok before 2.1.

It takes a good struggle but you can make it through. Try shorter calculations you should be able to move through the nebula and alll the way to Orion and Barnards. I did that last week. Found nothing but who knows. I probably missed a lot.

No leads for those nebula that I know of. But if you are down to do it then take a good look. It cant hurt.

if you don't mind getting mad give it a try, but it is not easy to find one.

Has anyone been around the Spirograph nebula recently? This place looks really cool. Someone mentioned earlier in the threadnaught that it's scare of metal and thus barnacles (I'm seeing some decent metal planets & rings) but you can also get directly to the Running Man nebula from here without being permit-blocked incase anyone's looking.

Ok here is the sit-rep.

Took out almost all systems of the cruiser. including thrustes. Power generator and aux thrusters. Power dis also. AND the FSD. nothing happend. Was gonna shoot it with a torp when my game crashed.

not sure what do do after that.

Ok, #spoilers, so don't read if you want to find out yourself:

How to take down capships
1. Take down the Primary Generator. This isn't necessary, but shuts down all the weapons on the capship which obviously makes things a lot easier.
2. Take out all the Heat Sinks
3. Job done. The capship will flee the scene.

Typically in a combat zone you'd get a combat bond for this (think it's 150k now). Doing it to the one at Merope 2A does nothing, it flees but that's about it.

Anyone know what happens if a capital ships hull hits 0%? Especially if the frameshift is offline?

Unless something has changed, nothing. Once you take down the heatsinks, even if the FSD is offline it'll still jump off.

AHHHHHH FRONTIER!!!! HOW COULD YOU! I GOT THE CAP SHIP DOWN TO 59% HULL WITH MOST OF THE SYSTEMS DESTROYED! AND THEN. And then. on that system. That I and everyone else keeps crashing on. I suddenly. CRASH im so salty right now. Thats about 1hr shoot at the damm thing. Now im salty as fudge. Ugh... i wish i could get compensated for this but no... im going to bed.

mmm We are currently trying to destroy it without it taking off. Everything is at 0%, therefore the thrusters should be offline, and the capital ship should succumb to the planets gravity, as it is hovering only 2km above it.

I'd give this a 2/10 - we've seen much more impressive strops lately, must try harder to keep up with the competition
