The problem with the plotter has nothing to do with permit blocking

That's not strictly true. If, for example, you want to plot a route to a star that is 200Ly below you and 300 ahead of you but the "direct" path is blocked off by permit systems and the only way to get to it is 100 up, 300 across and then 300 down, the route plotter can not find a way through.

In addition to my last comment, here is the video I promised, feedback on how to proceed?

Could potentially be a bugged hitbox because of the upgraded weapon... It didn't happen on the first shots, was that an engineered weapon? What upgrade did you have on the one that caused the effect?

The first shots were my friend hitting the barny with normal weapons, but for some reason they didn't show up... as for my upgrade it is Phasing Sequence on a light weight mount... probably a bug, maybe I should stick in a report

That's not because of the permit system that it can't find a way through though. It's because the plotter sucks at finding alternate paths if it thinks a direct one is unavailable - in general. This happens all the time in the rift where systems are in many areas almost at the limit of your jump distance if you're nearly empty of fuel. Permit systems are not the issue here, just one catalyst that exposes the issue.

I think that's partly by design, by making you as an explorer have to work to find routes when routes aren't "easy".

The part that also plays a role but is a bug is that the route plotter doesn't correctly factor in your current jump range - making certain paths show as not possible even when they are.

It's always worth sticking in a report to see what the response it (though it'll probably just be I'll pass it on). You'll have to forgive my ignorance of weapons upgrades, but what does Phasing Sequence do?

It bleeds damage through shields and directly attacks the hull :) I was making my weapons light for exploring and got it haha, I wasn't actively trying to get it.

In the interest of continuity and because I love to keep everything neat I am cross-referencing my bug report here:

Well that would certainly be an intriguing upgrade to have an effect. I can think of 2 things that need testing, though the second may answer the first.

1. Does it happen with other types of weapon upgrades?

2. Did you say that you got the same effect when hitting the crashed Anaconda?

I can answer 2 with ease, yes it does, as mentioned in my bug report it seems to have that effect with all ground assets. Which provides further evidence to it being a bug, (or desired effect with no result)

I cannot answer number 1 as I have no other weapon effects, but if I were to assume I would imagine you get the same effect that the weapon modification shows, I.E a heat beam would create a red cloud over the barnacle or other object.

I've just arrived at the Lagoon Sector LC-V C2-10 no planets at all. So with Sterlino's contribution that's 3 systems that have drawn a blank.

Yup that's what I thought, just wanted to double check. I think I'm certainly leaning towards bug, but it will be interesting to see if they say it's intended behaviour for ground assets.

I believe the capital ship the barnacle is hovering over means nothing. And so does the cap ship. Because short after it was found a galnet report was posted about it saying its in Merope... I bellive its just there to draw us to it like flys and lights. Were missing something.

Did we every find out what happened to that farragut battle ship or was it a impiral one that just blew up for no reason? be interesting if the same thing happen to this one. imagine all the bits you could get from one of those that close to the surface. allso just been at merope 2a he was very rude and told me to leave or i would be fired upon.

Has anybody attempted to shoot down the Capital Ship over Merope 2A (ie: take out its power plant so thrusters go offline and it crashes into planet)?

Add on:
Make sure to record it though.... [money]

Is that even possible? I thought the only way to take out a cap ship was take out its radiatiors. But then it just warps out. So... has anyone blown one up?
