Can somebody please confirm that there was an alliance listening post setup either in Merope or Maia?

I heard someone say this and I cant find any such thing.

It's setup *near* those systems. I'll just check the system name now.

You can't really...
You can see them in witch space/hyperspace if you look at the very left-middle of the screen, when your pilot's head is still looking straight forward. Seems like it happens most, if not all times.

I think the picture that I was commenting on was in normal space/ supercruise, not in hyperspace jump- there are no star trails showing.

edit: ah, my mistake. Just gone back to check & there are some small star trails, so presumably a single shot from a video of a hyperspace jump.
yes, I think several people have commented on these before, but as you say we can't investigate them very easily. Haven't been to Merope for a while so not aware they occur more frequently there- they could be investigated by doing an analysis of how often they occur there versus how often in other systems, their visual size perhaps, whether they are always in the same HUD position.......

Guys MB 100% confirmed that Hyperspace is the same thing as WitchSpace. People just started calling it Witchspace cause of the strange things about it.

No.... if you go pack a few pages he said that witchspace is not the same thing. Witchspace is what the older drives used to go through. The new drives create a hyperspace tunnel through witchspace. From what I read anyway.

That was cool and everything but why post that here?

To give us inspiration, to give us a reason to fight on. Why are we spending our time scienceing when what we discover can be so easily be discovered by people who dig through the code or ask the devs? Why do we lose ships, loved ones, countless hours of our lives and many tonnes of tea and biscuits. Because we are the Cannon. (Also it might actually help us get back on track with the science)

Speak for yourselves :p My associates and I have other plans :) There's just no reason for us and Canonn to not collaborate ;)

you are incorrect but I am too lazy to go get the quote. You must be misunderstanding

Regardless of the answer, there's a qualitative difference between the older 'witchspace' drives and the new FSDs.

The FSD jumps are almost instant whereas the old drives would take hours.
That change has been made for gameplay because ED is multiplayer and FD need the players to stay on the same time.

However, it would be nice if FD were consistent about it.
Capital ships become very different assets if they can jump so quickly, not only across the bubble and beyond, but to any point within a system.

The 'witchspace' lore is based on having to spend all that time in hyperspace.

I wish....

On a side note, I just got interdicted by an NPC pirate. Just had my 6A shield taken out by 1 missile. Then my hull by another 2. I can kiss another 7mil goodbye.

Very very cool - I love this :D

An excellent way to appeal to Canonneers.

As Pat says - the Canonn are power neutral in all ways, but everyone is free to support whomever they wish - if this video helps persuade people to support the Border Coalition in the Rise to Power, then so be it :)

Its working on me ;)

Old FTL drives took the ship into witchspace/hyperspace. New FSDs work like Alcubierre drives, folding spacetime in front of the ship and expanding it behind for supercruise. So, for interstellar travel new FSDs just fold witchspace too, hence the shortest transit time, I think.
