So it's been a couple of days since I checked on this thread.

I am quite pleased to see an actual discussion taking place instead of the normal nonsense that takes goes on around here.

And then I read this...

This piqued my interest some.
So if you say trans, does that mean transsexual? If so, does that mean that you were born female but identify (or feel) as a male? That opens up all kinds of psyche related stuff that I never thought about. Do you play FPS shooters too? I wonder how deep the male identification goes.
When you play Elite, do you focus on a specific role or do you run the gamut?

This thread is much more entertaining than the 'nerf this, buff that' crap. I get to learn a few things about the digital people around me.
No, I was assigned male at birth but identify as female. I am rubbish at FPS, in fact this is about the only game I play (well this and Undertale.) I have a few other trans friends who play together. We generally keep quiet about it because gaming forums aren't known for being friendly to our kind, not that I've seen much of that stuff in the ED community.

My! Women really are under represented! Guess FDEV don't consider it worth orientating the game in a direction that would appeal to women as well. A pity! That's a lot of potential customers lost!

In my experience, "The female of the species is more deadly than the male", has never been merely a song lyric or title, or just some old, obsolete quote. I figured that in nature, generally and traditionally, she has been entrusted with the rearing of young and their protection. Now that we can see so many accounts of wildlife and nature on film, we witness Alpha males of hers and other species, quickly concede and run from a formidable viciousness in her that has been naturally ingrained and even "naturally programmed". The difference, again in general terms as I've gathered, is that unlike the male, the female doesn't have much of an ingrained desire to go around trying to prove it unless it's absolutely necessary in her protective role or with real survival at stake.

Gender differences

Such a lovely way with words. Are you sure they've not tried? I mean your suggestion thread was, if I remember, that women needed an easy mode because you weren't like the testosterone crazed PvP men?Quite aside from that, which goes beyond making pink biros, I'm not sure what more you wanted so it's suitable for women as that thread never really got to that - what would you want changed so the game was better for women?
I didn't SAY that at all! I said women as a rule are not into all the gun totting silliness et al that most 20 something men seem to fixate on on a "testosterone crazed PvP" fest...I want a balanced game that isn't mostly focused on PvP as the primary objective of the game and that if you don't particilate in PvP or even PvNPC then you are never going to progress in the game. In other words - combat is currently compulsory in the game!

DB has repeatedly said that it's not a PvP focused game and every single PvP player constantly complains about the lack of PvP features, so I don't think you need to worry about that.

Which kind of cut-throat galaxy without any combat were you imagining?

How do you see "Zero" as balance between "none" and "lots"?

Pardon the harshness, but i think there are some very versed female PvPers out there aswell.
In general, generalization is rather pointless, as a gaming community is a niche in itself.
Doing so would fall back into using stereotypes, which imo are formed from experience,
being passed on from generation to generation, without the goal of being always right.

I understand the wish for a balanced game, without having it become a stale grind or
death match respawn carnage and respect that.

Also i am wishing for a whole season dedicated to crime and the implementation of some real mechanics,
yet i still am wishin'.
