UAs, Barnacles & More Thread 6 - The Canonn

I have to butt in here because I dont remember if I said this or not.
Michael Brookes confirmed that the nebulae where the barnacles are located correlate to their origin, as in not all nebulae will have them just the ones that correlate with their origin.
The only indication that I can see is that the sign on the barnacles is a symbol that represents their origin, which are the three nebulae that I keep saying over and over. By all means keep searching for more nebulae but in my humble opinion we have found the three and only three nebulae that have these barnacles. I got burned out of playing the game by searching for a week in the Hind nebulae. It was fun for a while but as I spent more and more time on it, I found nothing and was left with no reward. It crushed my spirit. I am slowly regaining my fuel to get back on the game though.

Barnacles appear to have been planted on these nebulae because of their location, in my humble opinion.

Also to me it seems that Barnacles cant live in space exactly... their atmosphere is the nebulae itself and the nutrients that they need is in the rock moons (high metal or not, volcanism or not). They range within a certain temperature which has been slowly narrowed down by Canonn dudes but the range keeps getting bigger as more barnacles are found.

The big thing right now is Merope, and with all the big youtube names finally having mentioned it, I believe they are about to progress the story further.
I also believe that the origin of barnacles lies inside "The Triangle" which is mostly locked systems.

I also want to mention that everyone at some point agreed that the UAs were looking for a ship in Merope, a week or so later, we find this big ass capital ship sitting on top of a barnacle. Was this the ship the UAs were looking for? Are the UAs even looking for something? Or are they waiting for something to happen in Merope just like the Feds are?

These are questions that only the devs can answer whenever they decide to push the story further. I dont believe we are missing anything.

Another piece of information regarding the capital ship in Merope 2A. You can listen to the patrols and it sounds like they have been in combat recently with some people or something. Was it the Canonn guys? Or someone else. But they are angry. I wouldnt go near them honestly.

How would the three nebula be represented by a symbol that looks more like none of the nebula they have been found in and isn't between them nor are they different depending on which nebula they are found in?

You can say it over and over but nobody knows what the symbol represents, but it doesn't seem to be an image of any nebula pictured.

I dont mean to sound like a know it all. As I said. It is my humble opinion, and I have tried to disprove my own theory the best I could.

Look at the symbol closely please.

The small curvy stripe, represents the California Nebula.

The big curvy shape is the Pleiades Nebula

and the smallest of the three shapes is the Witch-head nebula.

Also would like to point out, that it is not my theory that the barnacles are placed in nebulae that correlate to their origin. This is what MB said. So having discovered already 3 of the nebulae we can use their location to see how that correlates with their origin. To me the most obvious is the triangle that is formed if you connect the three nebulae with lines. I believe that these barnacles originate from within that triangle perhaps the exact center?

In an attempt to help you reducing some of the working efforts:

- crashed ships found near barnacles.. who was first, the barnacle grow from the crashed cargo 1km away of the crash site? or the ship crashed when getting closer to the barnacle?
- NOTHING degrades on a planet, as far as I can tell.
- it transmits the location, wherever it is, a system while in space, a station name, or a planet name, as far as I know.

I hope this helps you!

Edit: what about aligning the star - planet - UA and kill it? so whatever is launched when the UA explodes hits the ground? or what about hitting a ship?

I would like to add that I have found crashed nav beacons very close by barnacles in the california nebula. I don't know what the meaning is as the sound they make is the same as any crashed nav beacon in the bubble. (A shame really). Now I don't remember if someone took the trouble to try and make sense out of the noise.

Anyhow we still have nothing, and its not for a lack of tinfoil.

Hmm.
Might be wotlrth a check.
The biggest one also has an outrunner maybe it might be worth it to check that area of the Bebula a bit closer

Vision1776, MB specific comment is (corrected):

the nebulae that they can be found in relates to their origin and I can't talk about that.

and he also said:

And to those asking why nebulae - it's quite logical if you think about it :)

That doesnt mean they are confined to N nebulae. These nebulae he talks about 'relates' to their origin, it can just mean it has silice in it, or is older than X years. The key point also is his second question: why he did say: 'why nebulae' and not 'why these nebulae', obviously because barnacles need something from the nebula or just somewhere to hide, or.. endless lines of tin foiled reasons.

Thinking of the triangle as being the source and because they relate is a good theory, just that your middle point in this case falls outside of a nebula so it just doesn't even match with your theory.

This is what you try to represent if I'm correct:

You could interpret the comment so many ways though that's the trouble.

Yes it could mean like Vision said and the triangle they form somehow triangulates the source of the barnacles. It could be to do with the name of the nebulae somehow, or the chemical makeup. My personal interpretation was the origin was merope where the UA shell is and they can be planted elsewhere. The hints we have been given so far are great and we would not be here without them but they still leave millions of possibilities open and it does start to get to the point where you feel like you are wasting time. With no indication of whether something we do is wrong or right how are we supposed to work anything out.

Sorry that turned into a rant I think I need a break from this haha I still love you elite dangerous

The thing is... we dont know what is happening. We don't know who is the bad one, who is the good one. We don't know anything at all.
We don't even know the full backstory of Elite - and that would be usefull.
We have barnacles, we have UA's, we have probes, and ... Merope. Why this place...
Everything is changing acording to what we are doing. We find something, something new is apearing. Right now we have found some piece of evidence about probes, but we cant find them...
If they are related...
Probe, UA, Barnacle.
Three things. The UA's are probably to guide us to Merope. So, something is happening at Merope. So we can asume that the main reason for their existence is to show it to us. But ... it was scanning our ships. And it was using morse code...
So... the theory that some kind of alien life - which was looking at as from shadows - want to show as the Merope is quite strong. Maybe the UA's were to catch our attention... but the ship scanning is still strange.
Right now i can think about two scenario.
One is that we are lured towards ... a trap. And that all this scanning was so some alien life form will be able in the future to catch our ships and change them into infected drones or something... the UA's are to catch our attention to places, in which our ships will get stolen from us.
You know, like plant-version of replicators from SG. Just think about the cap ship in the hands of alien asimilating plant-borg like race...

Then, second scenario is that the barnacles are good, the UA's were lookign for them - since meta-aloy is the only cure to the malfunctions caused by UA's, and now they found them. Federation knows about it and is trying to secure barnacles from evil aliens that are moving in our direction? UA's were trying to get info about our firepower so they would know everything about us? And are now markers toward barnacles?
And barnacles are a gift from someone who want to help us?

Both are just speculations, since we have no proof. We probably need to wait... i guess...
But i have this feeling, that we can still change what will happen, but we dont know what to do...
Only time will show, i guess. Too less data to figure something up...simply not enough - at least from my point of view.

Probe, UA, Barnacle.

PUB

I think i've solved the mystery... I'll have a Pint of Gold!

Maybe we can change what we don't know or maybe we can't.
If we can change it... is it good or bad?

From Drews comments it sounds like what is coming is not good!

No that is not what I said the symbol represents. I said the symbol being made up of 3 distinct shapes, each shape representing one of three nebulae.

Just because they originate from the center point doesnt mean that you are going to find another barnacle there. The origin of the barnacles as told by DB is that it is a genetically engineered creature based on an earlier life form. These barnacles were created by a group of people or aliens and they placed the barnacles in these three nebulae around their origin. The origin of the barnacles isnt necessarily another barnacle. It could be a base or something else and it doesnt have to be inside another nebula.

For me the answer to the question "Why nebulae" is that the creatures require the nebula as a type of atmosphere.

I humbly believe that the origin of these barnacles is in the locked systems inside the triangle. It will be revealed later on.

" 'why nebulae' and not 'why these nebulae'"

The reason that was said is because we hadn't found these nebulae at the time. He was answering "why nebulae" as in it being a logical place for the barnacles to be placed.

Also to the gentlemen that wants to try and grow barnacles, does anyone really think that is a game feature? The devs went out of their way to hand place these things. I doubt there is a game feature that would let you grow barnacles by doing something magical with the UAs or the Meta-alloys. Save yourself the trouble man. If this was an actual game feature, thousands of players would do it and then you would have thousands of new persistent POIs. It isnt a thing guys. But dont let me stop you. I just want to say what's on my mind and save you the trouble.

Barnacle Hunters Decal

Greetings Commanders,
Rear Admiral Midnight Ninja here - while I'm not reporting in a newly discovered barnacle this time, I would like to humbly request the following piece of art I made be considered by the collective community for use as a decal on Canonn Scientists' vessels. I realize that there is not a significant in-game reward for any level of participation in the search for and science conducted on Barnacles, which can take many hours and turn up empty handed frequently - so perhaps this would suffice. I hope everyone enjoys!

P.S. Michael - maybe this can be added in?
