[Update 2.1.03]More favourable to explorers(unless you have high combat rating)

- When determining the rank of NPC ships, use the player's combat rank, rather than their highest PF rank, although add 1 rank if their trade or exploration rank is higher than their combat rank
Then wording updated to :
- When determining the rank of NPC ships for interdiction, use the player's combat rank, rather than their highest PF rank, although add 1 rank if their trade or exploration rank is higher than their combat rank
- alter the changes in allowed interdiction ranks based on security, so that the biggest rank disparities are reserved for very low security and anarchy systems
- Reduced the number of engineer mods on AI ships substantially, now only Deadly & Elite rank ships are guaranteed to have mods and any below Master are guaranteed to have none
- Slightly reduced the ranks below an AI that they can interdict players, this will tighten up the difficulty a bit

----------------------------------------------------
If you get interdicted on the way back in to bubble the NPC will not be higher than your combat rating, unless you are Elite in Exploration or Trading. Then the NPC can be 1 level higher than your combat rating.
Then again this is a disadvantage to high combat rated Cmrds, as it means you have to be on your toes when entering the bubble(or fight, but then your ship might not be set up for it)

This should alleviate some worries for some Cmdrs, but once again if you are worried then listen to the collective wisdom here :
- get in to a wing for escort back in to the bubble
- park up asap when entering the bubble, and sell, or buckle up in a combat ship before going further
- when interdicted, submit & set 4 pips to shields and high wake out(make sure you have next system already chosen)

Sounds good for the majority, but idiots like me who flirted with the idea of getting triple elite (I abandoned it when they added CQC to that list, but am still Deadly in combat (allegedly)) are still not going to have a fun time. Let me hire an NPC wing for protection at least!

Now if they'd just add a way to reset our ranks without rerolling...

Makes me feel a little bit better. Sometime within the next few weeks I'll be hitting the bubble with about 2 months worth of exploration data. The closer I get to home the more worried about interdictions I get.

No matter how many times I read this and try to insert/remove words, I can't figure out what it's intended to say. anyone? [the bit before the comma obviously]

Master in Combat and Elite in Exploration. I don't think it will change that much but I am not 100% sure. Glad I have pre ordered No Mans Sky:)

You won't be interdicted by Deadly/Elite NPCs.

Competent in combat and Tycoon/Elite. If this means I no longer get exclusively interdicted by Deadly AI, it works for me.

Indeed, max you should see is Expert, which in turn means you should never face an NPC using Engineer mods.

Well, I've actually seen some Competent rated AI flying around, nothing tried to bounce me yet. I've also just picked up a commodity I need for a level 4 FSD upgrade, so we'll see how it goes after the servers are back up.

It means that there is a filter on how many ranks below the NPCs rank that he is allowed to interdict a player. So if it's 3, then an elite NPC will only interdict players that are 3 or less ranks below elite.

I picked up just 1 commodity and the 1st jump I make I get "That's the tasty cargo I'm looking for".
It's a Competent level Adder, the 1st time in probably the last six months of playing that I've been interdicted by something that isn't Deadly rank. Two salvos of mines took it out.
