Community Event / Creation Authors of novels please read !!

Michael has since told me that it should be possible to accommodate the anthology authors and these 'guests' into an official writers forum, which is great news. If it becomes not possible, I can go ahead with my original plan, no worries.

That is good to hear.

I hope not Alien. I think people are giving the DDF forum too much creedance and not giving the general population enough. Just because we're not in the DDF section does not give our opinions any more or less weight and it doesn't mean that the Frontier chaps are going to stop reading our ideas or listening to our opinions. From my perception the DDF is very much going to be a case of final decision voting but I also get a real impression that there is going to be plenty of transparency to the rest of us with what is going on. There will be a little 'us and them' but to be honest, the one that gets me more jealous are those that have had the funds to get into the Alpha and Beta sessions. I have enough trust in DB and Frontier that the game will be as good as they can make it, I just want to get my filthy little mitts on it ASAP :D

Like Styggron said, it makes sense to have the writers part of the forum separate from the DDF and to give those that are taking the lead the access to do what they need to do. I get the frustration Alien, I really do, but don't back out of this, it's your passion and you've done so much for it so far, follow it through, we're all looking forward to the end product!

I agree, I remember when the SWTOR community got Bioware to change the name of "Jedi Wizard" Advanced Class to "JEDI Sage" its was the Mass Effect community which got the Mass Effect 3 ending revised & it was the out cry of the Blizzard Diablo 3 community that made Blizzard patch out a ton of flaws & bugs in patch 1.03 (I think or 0.2) not some special committee or John Riccitiello, its the general community that has the greatest punching power :)

I think the real problem is people are posting new threads about stuff that should wait until the DDF is set up and then that is where it should be.

People are asking questions, and there is nothing wrong with that, but the things they are asking are way way WAY too soon to get any real answer on.

Amen to that. The enthusiasm from the project has to burn down a little now as we're in for a long run. I said on the KS discussion, I'd love to press the J key now to 2014, but actually, the most interesting thing (certainly for me from an academic point of view) is the development process.

It's only natural people are excited. In a couple of weeks, things will settle down.

I'm going to hang around. I want to help and hopefully I'll be useful somehow...;)

It is a bit Wild West on here at the moment, with a few multiple threads, but hopeully this should calm down soon :D

Synchromesh,

Many thanks for the proposed link, I'm most grateful. I'll let you have an updated graphic if you decide to go ahead it with it. Thanks for the possible promotion and your acknowledgement of the writers. It's very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Drew.

I don't see that as a problem. It'll die down naturally fairly soon. And if the Frontier people don't have time to wade through 99 pages of Feature Requests, well, the DDF people can do that for them and filter the suggestions into a manageable trickle in the DDF as and when the designers raise the relevant issues.

Back on the original topic... the books page looks great, synchromesh. It's good to have this sort of information sorted together. Hopefully we'll have a web-site together for the anthology soon!

Ok been thinking what to do about your books on Elite Forever because your Kickstarter pages will be disappearing soon...

I think there are Nine books to consider and not all of you have your own websites but of course i would still like to help supporting them...So i did have an idea to give each book its own page linking to your website if you had one..

Below is a small demo of what i had in mind....Please note for demo purposes only Drews page works....So have a look....click on the "Elite Reclamation" image ...and then you should get the idea of what im thinking..

http://www.eliteforever.co.uk/noveldemo/index.html

Its only an idea so let me know what you think ?

I'm not an author so I hope you don't mind my 10cents on this :)
Just wanted to say that that looks like a great idea!

This looks good.. a nice central placeholder for all the books.. I also want to have a forum section for the books here, so people only have one place to check on all their investments.. Michael will you be making separate sub forums for each title and giving the authors admin rights so they can keep some of the pressure off you guys at FD? Would be nice if possible...

Thanks Kate / Buur / Drew.....My thread kind of got hijacked and the original purpose lost..
It wont interfere with any websites...forums etc

Its like you say a place ( Or an Elite site in this case ) for people to get info on the books available and i can link anyones book to any page prefered

@Synchro : Thank you for setting this kind of thing up for us. I like the 3-part headshot-trailer-banner format which is great presentation without any fuss or extraneous clutter. I will certainly prepare a decent headshot and banner specifically for your book page. I also like the way it keeps the band together now that the ED KS has closed :)

@Kate : Like your idea of a centralised books forum, with perhaps subsections for the different titles. I am soon going to be launching a custom website to support my book, but it will a fairly simple, static affair and probably will not include a forum. However it would be good for fans and backers to be able to participate in one based at FF where they could be sure the various authors would be keeping abreast of their comments.

@Alien : don't leave us! :S

@Michael : Looking forward to that Universe documentation :D

I think a few of us anthology authors pledged enough for the DDF, but for the ones that didn't Kipper should pass on any relevant information as technically he'll be credited as the editor of the anthology so it'll be his head on the line if any things amiss - no pressure Kipper :)
Actually, I think the official editor from publication point of view will be decided as the project continues (the people who take on editing duties take the credit). The point of view of Frontier - in relation to the pledge paid - is of course that Chris is the lead, but this does not automatically transfer to him being the only editor.

I don't see any problems here. As an anthology writer, I dont expect access to the design forum, as others have paid for the privilage and I haven't, so it wouldn't be fair. As long as we all get the information we need somehow, and we can discuss ideas and share our writing together somewhere, then I'm happy with that. I'm just excited that I'm going to be writing an Elite story, it's going to be great! :)

And as a DDF member I don't expect to have access to the writers forum. Obviously various ideas from the authors will percolate their way into the DDF, but this would allow us to discuss whether or not that idea will fit into the E: D universe and what can be done to tweak it to the author's satisfaction. The final descision would rest with DB and MB.

Don't want to tread on any toes. They're your books.

Maybe we need a logo for our cabal of 15 writers... ;-)
Looks like the illustrators have their first task! ;)

I think you have a right to see what the writers are discussing Tricky, as that's part of the development process too. We're all working together on this in some capacity or other, so there'll be no treading on toes!

If FD gives the DDF access to the writers forum then I'm OK with that. I'll probably only pop-in once in a while since anything discussed there will be pretty sane. :D

It's the main forum where I'll be most to keep an eye on the ideas that are being bandied around.
