News Insurance Reimbursements & Revivals

I was surprised by the first set of reimbursements. This was really unexpected.
You guys need an award for the "Best Development Team Ever".
I've been watching the forums for updates ever since I managed to lose my A-fitted combat python 4 times to encounters I wouldn't normally have ever thought I'd wince at.
I wasn't looking for any kind of reimbursement, mind you. I just wanted to find out if I needed to adjust to new mechanics or if there was something wonky going on.
It was nice to see the frequent and in-depth updates posted on the Dev Team's findings and progress.
These reimbursements are just icing on the cake!
Thank you for all the time and effort you continue to put in to this game and community, FD!

Thank you for the reimbursement of my poor Type-9!! :)

Thankfully I track my credits on INARA & saw a sudden increase of credits = to the amount of my Type-9's rebuy cost.

This is awesome. I lost 2 x Asp, 2 x Type 9 and 2 x Pythons since 2.1 launched, a total of 30 million of insurance losses, and got it all back today. Not expecting it at all so it's a massive bonus. Very happy about refunds. :)

Tell me about it, I lost a Corvette few times in encounters with modded elite condas... I didnt count, 3, 4 times?

Each insurance almost 30M, did not receive the reimbursement yet.

SIGH. Some will complain if they get the game for free.

Mate, but we didn't. Paid both for base game, and for horizons. And just count the amount of NEW bugs introduced with each update. And it's not minor stuff, typo in an UI string or such. These are broken major features, like ammuniotion on multicannons, or auto docking functionality. Being in software development myself, working in major enterprise company, this tastes like beta.

And thats not a rant. I still play this game, damn, I like it.
But don't excuse that with "SIGH. ..."

BTW> Very good move with reimbursement of lost insurance (this topic). I just hope It wont become a habit ,)

Good morning everyone,

I know this morning has been one filled with a lot of information from the change log to the NPC AI changes, but there’s more thing that you will want to be aware of! We will be running another set insurance reimbursements and revivals on destroyed ships once the new update version is live of the server. This is part of the ongoing work to address the concerns regarding NPC AI.

Keep in mind, this applies to both Xbox One and PC platforms which will apply to insurance payouts between 3-June – 22-June. Additionally, any CMDRs whose ships were destroyed and did not continue with the rebuy will be revived free of charge. The reimbursements and revives will be automatic and should be completed a few hours after the update is live on the servers.

As always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

What the hay? FD cares for their consumers? Who would have guessed... ;)

Well done FD. I'm truly impressed with your intent to listen to your community and better your game for the common good. Carry on. :)

Thanks, these kinds of gestures are what keeps people loyal. Taking responsibility and showing good customer service is the hallmark of a great company, and Frontier is one of the rare companies who gets that!

it's a shame that so much of the outspoken playerbase is dominated by players who never want to die, want death to be cost free, and want to pick and choose who they conflict with in case it's not the best time for them. In those situations it would be nice if FD showed some backbone to their vision and ignored them.

If you're undocking and heading to another system and you're not afraid you'll be killed, then the game has been nerfed too hard.

Wow thats crazy, let me tell you a story, I was quite intoxicated the other night and i warped into the Tamar system, i think, i approached the station then suddenly saw a massive alien mother ship approaching me fast i did not no what to do, so i though to hell with it if this mother coming at me i,m going to go out in a blaze of glory i hit deploy weapons and gave it 6 beam lasers at close range to my surprise it had absolutely no effect, so i hit my boost got my asp up to 400m/ps and rammed that mother unfortunately I was destroyed it was then that i realized it was Gould station whoops, best part is frontier gave me my money back.

On a serious note i totally agree, Elite is turning into Alice in wonderland giggly happy place with cotton wool, please fdev stop with the nicey nicey nerfy answering my telephone is more dangerous than this game.

Big THX to Frontier, last time my FDL destroy after interdiction a i have lost 4.5M + 2 missions + cargaison + 500000 of penality. I apreciate refund
For "the best master killer harcore gamer pro fighter of te death", we bad player took full head: bla bka bla, Elite Dangerous is now Dangerous, bla bla bla, dont cry mourner, etc, etc.
Je me permetrais donc ceci: DONT CRY MOURNER, TAKE CHALLENGE WITH SIMPLE SIDEWINDER IN AZARDOUS ZONE.
I know it's silly, it is useless, but it feels good. sorry for that but demonstrate the cartoon is easy.
Seriously, i have start last CG in DARAMO and I think a fight an elite or letal Cutter is very difficult for me but not impossible like before.
In last CG in Neits before 2.1, i'll make 1M per play hours, i have win 12M + 15M of prime and reward. Ok it was too easy
Now i made 700000 in 3 hours and finish with 10% hull.
Even if it is perfectible I find fairer balance.

Thx to FD again

PS: Now, if no one finds the balance in the game, I still, itnegrate difficulty level in online single mode is the solution.
Now, to speak only of the business side, when I buy horizon, I pay to add content, not to change the gameplay.

Well i went to rebuy screen, twice and obviously got my money back when AI destroyed my T-9 twice. So i dont know why not to go through rebuy screen..

Its getting insane.

What happened to the hardcore spacesim I backed?

The first round of reimbursement was because of the Skynet bug where NPCs would have game-breaking overpowered weapons that were never intended. Instead of figuring out exactly who might have been hit by these weapons, they simply refunded everyone during that time period.
The second round of reimbursement was because they found a second bug that was allowing NPCs to turn too quickly at low speed, which was why players were seeing Anacondas outmaneuver much smaller ships when this shouldn't have been possible. Instead of trying to figure out how much of an impact this might have had in any given case again they simply refunded everyone who was killed during that time period.
There's a big difference between predictable, measured risks based on what we know of NPC performance and bugs that break the game. FD has not generally given out refunds when players have taken risks or made mistakes that have turned out badly for them. They are, however, quite willing to reimburse players who die through no fault of their own as a result of game bugs. In the past this has been done on a case by case basis, for example, when players were griefed by station defences from their PD systems hitting the station, but in those cases you had to submit a specific ticket that was investigated. I did lost my Asp twice during that period and got one of them reimbursed as it was clearly a griefing exploit. For them to individually investigate the last month of ship losses to determine exactly when an NPC weapon bug or turn rate bug was the main cause of player death would take them far too long. It's much faster and easier to assume that if the NPCs ships were overpowered due to weapon or turn rate bugs that it wasn't a fair fight for commanders, hence the very welcome set of refunds.
