So what exactly is the difference between a UA and a UP? They kinda look the same.

They look the same just on the scanner. No one has seen it live, so it seems premature to make any conclusion. What we know is what MB said: They are not the same.
In a few hours I suspect we will have plenty of them to watch, listen, and shoot with lazors...

But we don't know what an unknown probe looks like yet? Unless you have one???

:O Nvmd I just saw it in the post above!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

(now you have to eject it and see what it looks like)

Might look the same (although would be nice to actually see 'it' rather than its HUD graphic.)

But it might neither sound the same, nor behave the same.

Ok, things starting to link together now. Those wreckage fragments look very similar to the ones found in the USS sites we're logging in another thread.

I've been wondering why they're corroded because that doesn't happen in space. Now you've found them on the ground with a UA I'm pretty sure these things are linked.

UAs damage ships and I guess the corrosion is the ultimate end result if that isn't stopped.
The question is, what's happened to the UAs in those USS sites.

Hi guys, I'm back. Congrats to the CMDRs trying to retrieve a UP. I'm in Barnard's Loop right now but I can join you if you need backup. (Or a bait. I haven't pew-pewed in a looooong time.)

Adding a second image, this one of the canister in free space. Image is courtesy of CODE commander Stoffel

Hm...First found in convoys...Artifact...The Unknown Probe could be the Unknown Artefact version 2. If it's been made by the INRA, it could make sense. (at least on my line of stupid theories.)

Damn, I'm on fire today.

Statement from federation about their battlecruiser in merope.
But they did not reveal much...

Unusual time for a new galnet article...

Galactic News: Federation Issues Rebuttal
25 JUN 3302
Admiral Maxton Price of the Federal Navy has rejected claims that Farragut Battle Cruisers stationed in Merope have made unprovoked attacks on independent pilots operating in the area. In a statement, Admiral Price argued that the allegations were baseless, and that the Federation had not initiated any conflict:

"It is true that Federal vessels have exchanged fire with independent pilots, but these exchanges were not instigated by the Federation, and any claims to the contrary are false."

Admiral Price was asked to respond to calls from Dr Arcanonn of the Canonn Interstellar Research Group for a public enquiry into the Federal presence in Merope. He responded:

"The presence of Federal ships in Merope is entirely legitimate. If our ships are fired upon, they will respond in kind, but I can assure you that the Federation does not have a military agenda in Merope."

Hello all, longtime lurker stepping out. I find this might be the most interesting thing in ED i'v seen so far. That and the formadine rift thing. I read about 180 pages of thread 6 and tried to catch up. I'm currently on an exploration run but i'll keep my eyes peeled for anything and will come back eventually.
random thought: maybe the three nebulas the barnacles are in aren't marking their center (the hind nebula someone said) but making an arrowhead pointing to something else? Another nebula or something? I don't recall reading that but I've only read 1/3 of a thread out of 6 threads.

Anyone want a heads up if I find a up? I don't have a lot of time so I'm going to just be hanging around gidzenko looking for up uss. Let me know your CMDR please.

Of course. The weekend i need to do lots of work a up gets found. Nobody has picked one up though yet right?

Good stuff guys. The info we've got so far confirms a fair few suspicions for me, but it's all scuttlebutt arty this point. Key being we need to actually secure one then science the hell out of it.

Now that we have discovered these unknown probes in convoys, I think there might be a pattern.
Because at first we found UAs in convoys, then they set up a shell. Let's see if the UPs do the same thing?

So, because these look like UAs, there's a good chance they'll behave like UAs. But since these are a different item, there's a *very* high likelihood they'll point somewhere besides Merope (if they point). This is the lead we need to follow. Hopefully they emit something different too.

Actually, that's a good point. For the guys who were near one when it jetted; did it scan you?

I think if we won't find anything tonight we're never going back here again...
We're starting shooting eachother because we're so bored. So...
RNG JESUS HELP US!

I must admit, grinding SSS for UAs was, second only to barnacle hunting, an activity i didn't enjoy much. At least this time round the USS are now categorised and we have a solid lead on the type/threat level we're looking for.

So any one tried to follow a convoy yet 1 to see where it goes and what systems they visit and 2 if the lil blighters are like UA's and corrode whatever they are in and pop out for us to grab.

that was my plan, actually, but steam messed my game folder and im currently waiting for the game to download -if you know what i mean-

Oh, I saw some posts regarding the "strange article" in ross 47. That's a standard auto-generated news article for lockdowns. Someone else saw one that reported aliens, but these get generated for a lockdown.

Not saying it's insignificant (maybe lockdown helps generate these events?), but these articles definitely aren't hand-placed:

So the convoy caarries the UP with 8 MAs in the hold, very interesting. They may be there to try to prevent corrosion caused by the UP. I'm beginning to think the UP may be a man-made version of the UA (or different men if u think UAs are man-made).

the biscuit barrels proved it should be easier in wings and when coordinated. we need fewer lone pilots and more organised search parties.

with hatch-breakers of course ;)

Exactly, that's the big difference, because I'm not spending another 30hours to get the right signal source...
