You could make the original files available (read only, obviously) via something more file-share-y than picture-share-y, e.g. Dropbox gives you 2GB in the free version, so anyone who wants to see the full glory can download a copy that way.

My goodness I am so stupid...

I am allready using dropbox for a ton of other stuff, so why did I not think of that?

OP updated with a dropbox link to the map poster as a png with no loss in quality.
It is 56 MB, but then you also get a file in print quality!

Previous hosting was occasionally down, but thanks to Anthor this will now be hosted on the EDSM servers.
