Hardware & Technical T-16000m or Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas ?

Interesting discussion. It just prompted me to order a T-16000m

yeap, got mine week ago ;)

but still am looking forward to x55, this will be the backup stick and in case i will ever decide to try 2 hand sticks, then t16000m will come in left-handy ;)

Many thanks SpectralMeat for the prompt reply. What you say is certainly possible. However, I just downloaded Oolite (an original Elite clone - excellent btw) and similar behaviour is exhibited in that the throttle will only allow a 50% maximum setting which, to me, suggests the possibility of a hardware issue. Also the joystick Windows Control Panel displays similarly imperfect throttle axis issues. I'd like to be able to reset the auto-configuration and start from scratch without drivers. I still hope to hear from other T-Flight users.

Thanks again!
Oh okay in that case it does sounds like you have hardware issues unfortunately. :(
I thought you were only having trouble in Elite Dangerous.

Being a Leftie i am looking at the T-16000m

Looks good and solid.

What i'm wondering though is managing thrust with the right hand.
Does anyone have any experience with mapping thrust control to the number pad buttons on a Razer Naga?

I've ordered the T Flight Hotas. Looks great value!

I am unfortunately a lefty too but I'll be able to use either hand.

I wonder if anyone has a setup with two T.16000M's? One for each hand...

I think you'd run out of buttons with two t16000s... unless letting go of one to tap a button on the base is okay.

Also a lefty and also have T-Flight HOTAS. Touch wood no significant issues, although it took me a while to break the "link" in my brain so that I didn't fiddle with the throttle when flying around in space.

Got used to my old saitek game pad in the early Alpha stages but just recently bought the t flight HOTAS x, it's taking a while to adapt to it but I'm getting there, the extra buttons come in really handy and I think I prefer the YAW mapped to the rudder controls on the back of the throttle.

For the price this a really good HOTAS :D

No brainer for a leftie

Just joined the premium beta and have been playing the combat scenarios with M&KB. This is working fine after a bit of practice but have just ordered a Thrustmaster T16000 - only choice if you are left handed. Problem is now getting hold of a right handed throttle. I really don't think there are any out there.

I have not heard of throttles for the right hand. However, there might be several ways out of this situation, e.g. you may try dual-stick setup proposed by drakmaniso:

I have seen a post on this forum written by lefty who learned to use joystick with right hand, which also solved the problem.

This is a little off topic but if you do a google search for thrustmaster t flight HOTAS x it comes up with a you tube video review by angry Mike or something like that.
Not sure if the host of this video was meaning all his tongue in cheek innuendos but my wife and I were in hysterics listening to his comments.
Personal favourites was how "it feels good in my hand", something to do with jerking it off.
Worth a view for a quick laugh :D

On a serious note though I have this HOTAS and it gives the game a great interactive experience :D

@SpectralMeat

Turns out that the problem I was having with the T-Flight throttle was indeed hardware, as the replacement works fine.

Now I have an issue getting it to work happily with my ED-Tracker (which works fine with my Xbox pad), but that's a job for another thread methinks :)

We may not need another thread. If you're a private beta backer, then you're currently limited to flying in alpha 1.1. This build only supports one game controller at a time. The EDtracker and T-Flight combo should work just fine in the beta on Thursday.

I am using the T Flight HOTAS and my only grumbles are the primary trigger is a bit uncomfortable, and the stick has no way of clamping it down, but that may be me just getting a bit too heavily "immersed".
Got a TrackIR 5 coming tomorrow, which I hope to have set up for the premium beta release, with the rest of my kit as outlined below.
My "excuse" for spending almost a grand on getting this game up and running is it's my birthday on the 30th May.
Is 58 too old for all these boys toys?
:smilie:

@technome

Very much appreciate the input. Even though I'm on A1.1, I find that input from both Xbox joypad and ED-Tracker is indeed accepted simultaneously as the combination works perfectly. Perhaps it's something to do with the T-Flight, and maybe you are correct in suggesting the beta will resolve the issue - fingers crossed :)
