I've arrived in Merope, will do a flyby to find a decent route to take then I'll land at the north pole and hope I go in the right direction.

Odd question whilst I prep to land, has anyone thought about triangulating the barnacles on Merope 5C? I believe there's been 3 found so far? What I've noticed since this thing has started is that the barnacles have a slight 'tilt' to them, kinda lop sided. I was wondering if maybe you triangulated from the 3 sites we know of, do they converge on a point on the surface at all? I've worded this poorly so I'll go over it once I'm firm on the ground.

Michael refers to the Barnacles only being in Nebula as "quite logical if you think about it". Question is, are they extracting materials to make Meta-Alloys (pretty likely I'd say) and is this particulate they're venting waste product or does it have another function? If it's just waste product, is it this particulate vented material that comprises the dust cloud that creates the nebulae in the first place? If this is true, then they've been there a very, very, long time.

Query to those that have found a probe in Ross 47:

Did you find the convoy in deep space, a shipping lane or near a particular body?

I'm unsure where Pat has found his but I've seen a convoy near the planet with the planetary base by the B star. Its name currently eludes me. Its the same one Riz initially found a convoy by. The convoy probably spawns anywhere in the system it just has more chance to spawn by places that have more convoy spawns.

Mykl Atrum, who I know is active on the forums, has found one in that general area. I believe Pat's came from somewhere near the main star or near volkynov outpost.

It was awesome... now we just need another and to bring it to the barnacle! Then i bet the real fireworks happen! I can't wait for your videos to pop up on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1oerZ3EpimXnIhF9GN3EGA).

Looking at Ecthelion's video of the UP on the planet surface I have a couple of observations
1) it appears to try to orient itself since it is falling vertically (smaller bulb downwards) but lands almost horizontally.
2) there appears to be an impact detection bug with it that should be reported, since it disappears below the surface before bobbing back up (assume this is a bug!!!)
3) possibly the same bug appears to prevent it orienting itself properly. It does appear to take up a compass bearing but as it's attempting to rotate it is not quite making it & snaps back. To me this could suggest that it is attempting to take up a preferred position.

Wonder what would happen if UPs are dropped in different orientations. if it landed larger bulb downwards would it plant itself to become a barnacle?
It would be nice to nudge one on the surface & see (a) if it is acting as a compass and (b) whether it would correct its attitude & maybe trigger some behaviour.
