Are you sure it wasn't the light of the main star of Merope? Or another star.. When I have time I will take a look just incase.

I think we need multiple threads. I posted the day after (or of depending on timezone) the UP was found about how we'd go about finding free floaters. By the time I got around to posting the question we were up to page 30 (stock message display setting). We're up to page 85 and your post (that I'm quoting) is already 7 pages back.
I'd say we need a thread on:
- How to find UP (my main interest) which focuses on where to find convoys (and crack them), and free floaters. Initially it's speculation, eventually becomes documentation.
- Testing UPs that have been found
- Random tinfoil and other topics (basically this thread).
Findings from all 3 can be consolidated in the head of this thread but as it is right now the thread is moving too fast. If two people have the right ideas but are separated by 8 or 10 timezones they'll likely never intersect and we'll delay their joint epiphany.
If somebody makes a how to find thread then great. If not I may make one later today and see if it gains traction.

I was looking at an older post about crashed ships with UAs next to them... And I found this:
Now that's pretty much what Jaques said. That his FSD overloaded... So those ships actually misjumped. They didn't just crash on the planet but were spit out of witchspace at an unknown for them location. What I don't like is that they said they have "encountered an anomaly". Are they talking about the UA... If they picked it up they would have probably known what it is. We now heard that UAs "Sing" in Witchspace... So maybe they have a way of traveling trough it. Maybe they come from there. Maybe while traveling through witchspace the ship collided with an UA trying to get to normal space (the anomaly) causing something similar to what happens when you get interdicted, spitting both the UA and ship somewhere in normal space. If we could only "observe" the UA behavior in witchspace that would be great.
Also I have a dumb idea. A while ago I tried high waking trough the Merope star. I would orient towards it with my target just barely visible from the star. I would start charging my drives and move towards the star so when the countdown begins i am looking in the general direction of my target, but the ship has moved closer to the star and now my location is blocked by the star. I was able to jump that way but nothing happened... I shall attempt to do the same with merope 5c . Its probably dumb but there might be something like a beacon on 5c allowing UAs to jump between our space and witchspace.

Careful with that tinfoil. As others have said, it can be very seductive to cherry-pick pieces of evidence fit the idea.
For example, Prof Palin's first name is Ishmael. Ishmael is the narrator in Herman Melville's Moby ("Call me Ishmael"). Moby is an enormous white sperm whale. UA's produce a kind of whalesong.
I am not suggesting that this reveals anything other than maybe the dev's sense of humour, but it seems like an otherwise tenuous link.
Thanks for letting me know. Not every one has the time to check out all the posts made about this subject so it's really appreciated that when an old Idea is rehashed you guys let us down gently.

Most likely it's Halsey's Architects. They are nice guys (like Fuel Rats) that save you when you are lost in Witchspace, if you call them with an UA/UP.
They probably saved the Thargoids as well, after our attempted genocide.
This for me is the most salient observation. Exactly who are *they*?
If it were possible, I have become more confused about the role of the UA's. As Jacques Station was crammed full with them in the run up to his jump, did the UA's:
1) 'cause' the misjump
2) facilitate the station to be 'rescued'
3) both

It sounds like the UA's caused issues to his various modules... but then 'they' came in response to the song by the UA's... it sounds like that's what pulled Jacque out of Witchspace. It seems like the UA damage caused the misjump... and as he was cruising, he was intercepted by 'them'.
I didn't just hear the whale song and say oh it must be echolocation. It was actually the click noises that made me think of echolocation. Then I started reading. And reading. All day. And one after another the connections were made. I posted them as I discovered them. Probably the wrong way to do it, would of been better consolidated into one post. I was travelling at the time and had patchy reception so I just tried to type in shorter posts whilst I had signal. Give me 5 and I will try to summarize all the information I discovered today on the topic.
Edit: Actually I'm buggered and need sleep, I will do it tomorrow if I have the time.

- I did the same back in 2.0, same issue. New object found.
- Honked again in 2.1, nothing new.
Possibly nothing new in 2.1.
