CV1 coming in few days. tips for new PC

I wonder what is the most important for my next PC, CPU memory.... I will keep my GTX 970 for now but I willing to invest in the future with stuff work really well with VR. Do you have any tips or experience to share, what would you buy?

The theory is that games/VR should be relying less and less on the CPU and more on the GPU, at least that's what proponents of DirectX 12 and Mantle/Vulkan will tell you. I've yet to see this fully realized, so when shopping for a CPU you're looking for an i5 of either recent generation or last generation. I've never been convinced AMD CPU's are worth it unless budget is concern.

You should consider however the Radeon RX480 graphics card. It's $200, and I sold my GTX 970 on Ebay for $200. Just my two cents there.

Go SSD it's starting to become a requirement of modern games. Now would be the time to invest in 16GB or more of ram as well.

Have fun! VR is worth time and effort to run it properly.

Depends how ancient your current PC is. Unless your PC is especially ancient/low-spec for a gaming/VR rig your money is best spent on the graphics card first and foremost.

Thanks for answer, yeah my pc is quite old now, 5 years, this is why I don't care to replace all this: I7-2700 8 CPU 3.4 GHz, 8 gig DDR3. But I got my GTX 970 only last years after I got my DK2 and hope I can use it for some time with CV1. Is that making sense?

Overclock the I7 2700 to 4 Ghz and it will be more than enough cpu juice for VR. The 970 will do for general VR but you should upgrade to a 1080 when prices hit your tolerance level for more ED oomph.
