silly question

How do you guys quit the game when out in the black.
I park my ship at a landable planet and disconnect almost all modules before I hit
the P button.
I think this is silly; how do you guys quit the game ?

I never logout on a planetary surface, too much glitches happened by that. I just logout in space, with a distance of 1000 LS of every planet (this might be far too much, but caution is the mother of the porcelain box :) ). Ah and you dont have to disconnect any module.

Head away from everything until I hit 20c (no reason, just a number), zero the throttle, wait for the ship to stop, drop out of SC. Then quit.

I'm also perfectly happy to log out when landed on a planet if I've been prospecting. I just make sure I'm back in the ship.

same here.

most times I search for a nice planet to end my leg on it :)

if not on a planet I have to drop out of SC and disable all modules...

just sensors stay alive, so I can get a wake up call if someone or something is approaching
-oh, and life-support aswell to actual hear that call :D

Happy to log off on a planet, no issues so far. If in space, just get a reasonable distance from any bodies, throttle to zero, log off. No messing with modules or anything and no issues yet (over 600klys travelled)

Never log off in SRV, never log off just above a body or near to star :)

I go a few hundred ls off the system plane, low wake, throttle down, at log off. Logging out on planetary surfaces just invites bugs. Explody ones.

I just head away from the Star out of scooping range and quit. Never had any issues, also logged off lots on a planet in my SRV without issues, didnt know about the glitches.

I've logged off in pretty much every possible combination of location (space/planetary surface) and ship/vehicle and never had any problems.

Oh no, I've tempted the Elite Glitch Gnomes now!

In space I try to head away from bodies until I'm at a few c and just quit to desktop. (leave it in SC. I used to drop and power down but it takes too long).

I'm happy to log out on surface in both ship and SRV. Had a few sinking bugs (but not for a long time) but logging into non horizons fixes that.

Spent the last 5 weeks or so logging off in the SRV. Once I logged in 2km in the air but a blast of the boosters let me land ok......and I think that might have been trying to get in the right instance some time back rather than an overnight 'park'.

During Distant Worlds I'd often land at the coordinates overnight so I was in the right spot for meet (my timezone makes it early morning usually). The first few WP could see bugs...mostly sinking that was resolved by going back to main menu and back, but since around March..no problems.

I often slow to minimum speed in supercruise and then log out, but if I'm on a planet's surface I'll log out there. I don't log out in the SRV though, that feels like tempting fate.

That's not tempting fate, That's Smacking her in the face, daring her to mess with ya.

Oh, and it's not a daft question. The first time you quit the game away from a station can be a little unnerving when you're used to being safely docked.

It's kind of like leaving your car in a field rather than on your drive when you go to bed.

I just abandon ship in the middle of nowhere. Far away from any planets. To be fair I've never had any issues with it but it is a little unnerving to begin with.

Ship in space away from stars and planets, throttle back to 30km/s, quit game.
I know I don't need to wait for the speed to drop to 30, but I still do.

I like this comparison ;)

I make sure I am at least 100ls from any system body, drop out of sc and then just quit to desktop...never had a problem. I have never turned off modules...not sure what that would achieve except making restarting the game more laborious.

Usually move away from the star and then quit to desktop / unless I'm landed or in a SRV when I just quit to desktop.

(yes I have logged out in an SRV and never been killed or lost a SRV - still in my original SRV from when I started the trip to BP (19/12/3301) - (Have fallen a bit below the mesh - but logging out and logging on again has cured it.)
