I'll be at the Artemis Bridge Simulator. As an instructor. :D

This shows almost exactly what I'm expecting the Artemis Bridge Simulator to be like (including dark glasses and Saturday night hangover) ...

Distinctly got to the "screw it" part and I'm now going to Lavecon... :D

See you all in a week!

Edit Edit: Driving up from Southampton area Saturday early morning and back Sunday after everything finishes. Anyone wanting to carpool in that direction give me a heads up. I'm not staying locally to Northampton though so getting to hotel etc whilst up there will be up to you :)
PM me anyone if you are interested.

Ok Lavecon veterans!
As someone who is travelling to Lavecon for the first time and will possibly not make it there again for a few years is there anything you advise I take/don't take. Things I want to make sure I see/don't see. I'm travelling quite a few hours there and back and don't want to forget something that I later regret.

I've had a look at the schedule and so much is going off at once. I don't want to plan it out completely but I'm looking for some advice like: "Items 1, 2 and 3 are things you don't want to miss". and stuff like that.

Any advice is welcome! :)

Wander around, mingle, chat... do a recce first, to figure out the stuff you want to see. It's hard to recommend stuff without knowing what you're into. There is quite a wide spectrum of activities which won't be to everyone's taste, but that's a good thing. There's role playing, LARP stuff, board games, casual PC/LAN gaming, retro games, lots of presentations and talks about a wide variety of topics. Artemis. Or just chatting with like-minded enthusiasts. And drinking, of course :D

Probably best thing to bring is an open mind :) you might find something new to enjoy!

Wow... I owned a big chunk of those. Some epic, epic games on that list. Falcon is missing, though...

Z...

Managed to upgrade to a Gold ticket due to a cancellation! Looking forward to this weekend!!

Like @Alex, first-timer here so would be great to get a list of must-see activities. Appreciate everybody's tastes differ but surely we're mostly gathering because of Elite, so that should top the list of things to experience compared to the other activities..

[re-worded post from another thread]

So who's looking forward to having numerous exchanges along the lines of ..

"Hi, I'm Steve"

"sorry, that name means nothing to me"

"oh right, err slightly hushed/embarrassed tone Commander StarB@st@rd"

"ahh OK ... how are you doing? I'm Brian"

"sorry, that name means nothing to me"

"oh right, err slightly hushed/embarrassed tone Commander Snugglebunny"

"ahh OK ... hi"

an uncomfortable silence follows

"sorry ... what was your name again?"

Do our official Lavecon name badges have our commander names on them?

Pity they don't have our forum avatars on there too. (at least - I assume they don't)

Thanks for the advice.

I will bring snickers to trade for fuel :D

I'm into pretty much anything, very interested in the Elite stuff and very very specifically in VR so that will be my first port of call. I'm also 100% gonna hit up Artemis, may even have my laptop with me in case others bring ones to get a 3rd team in game :p
As above I didn't know if there are any "don't miss" events or things that everyone will be headed for..

Alec I fully expect the conversation to go:
I'm X.
Who is X?
Oh, its cmdr name Y?
Who is Y?
Ahh, my reddit name is Z?
Z?
Oh wait, you want my forum name :p
