cheers, I thought that this forum and gaming community was less salty and more mature unlike the WOT or cod fan base but I'm seriously questioning that of late. Only a few posts are a joy ( shameless plug coming up) the DRX post being one as its all about being out in the black, no pvp/pve or PP politics ruining the vibe

One group just wants to play the game as the devs have presented it without being bothered by idiots.
One group is using nebulous* "RP Reasons" to justify invading the game of the first group under a false flag to use their PvP-tuned l33t-machines to destroy helpless traders.
You're being extremely ignorant if you're trying to pretend that those are equivalent.
* - Because seriously, you're RPing your allegiance just as well by blockading the system in Open and just interacting with traders who've signed up for that experience. Obviously that won't be as effective in-game, but if roleplay really is your primary motivation that shouldn't matter.

And your comparisons are so far removed from each other it's incredible.
This isn't about RP. This isn't about PvP players gaining access to a private group intended for PvE.
This is about the hypocrisy of Group A not wanting Group B to interfere with Group A's gameplay, whilst Group A is simultaneously interfering with Group B's gameplay.

The Open/Solo/PG argument has no ending. No one can win it. I believe that if you want to play Elite in Solo/PG, by all means. Play everything. But if you want to change things in Elite, like Power Play and BGS manipulation, it should be a restricted to Open activity. Play the game, have fun, play it your way without having to play nice with others. But to actually effect the background and other people's experiences, it should be done in Open and only there. Open does not effect Solo/PG players, yet Solo/PG effects Open players. It's a never ending argument. A solo player can come in and ruin everything I've spent the last 9 months building. But that's cool, that's not a griefer. Just the pew-pew guys are griefers.
Heck, this argument is so played out I can just argue with myself and come up with all the same answers covered since release. At least there has been talk of incentivising Open through Power Play bonuses. I know that ticks off some Solo/PG pilots, but seriously? You're game is unchanged. Open is effected. Just like every other decision that a Solo/PG player makes. Effects all of us, but they still believe they are playing by themselves...

I agree with you on that error, it is pretty stupid that it is said you are free to help any CG or hinder it. It seems this is a lie, what is the point of trying to make a Cg fail? when FD steps in and interferes all the time. Lifting the lock down is pretty . I am not supporting or opposing the CG, but still. Pretty D move Frontier.

Forgive me, it was a very long night fortifying and combating 5c. I am quite tired.
The difference, as should be blindingly obvious, is that Group A have no choice about "interfering with" with Group B's game in this tiny nebulous way, whereas Group B were actually going out of their way to **** with Group A.
What percentage of habitually Solo/Mobius players do you think really give a tinker's cuss about "affecting the BGS"? 10%? 5%? 2%?
I KNOW it's not about roleplay. That's just the figleaf that the griefers you're acting as an apologist for have been pointing to to excuse their griefing.
Also I'm not supporting you in this argument (keeping my hands clean), just saying that you need to work in a few pop culture references when they are so easily thrown at you.
Edit: Actually on second thought if anything I lean against you on this one. The PvP griefers are quite literally doing everything in their power to turn it into a "play MY way ordont play at all" situation by actively opposing Fdev themselves (who btw lifted the lockdown that this same griefers imposed because they were just salty about solo/pg players.
