I'm on my way to Jacques, and I need to refill my AFM, so I'm stopping on high metal content worlds looking for Vanadium and Zinc to synthesize ammo.
I managed to fry a bunch of modules by getting too close to a sun and I have ~11Kylies left to go, and there's no repair at Jacques.
First of all, high metal worlds without atmosphere are not that common, so I've only managed to locate ten or so on my way to Jacques so far.
And this is the first time that I've done any serious prospecting, and I have to say that once the novelty of bouncing around on the surface has worn off, prospecting is a tedious process.
I am currently on a high metal planet and I set down in an area that is relatively flat. I say, "relatively," because even flat areas tend to have quite a few wrinkles (read sheer cliffs). So as I tool around, my hands go numb and I am on the edge of being carsick half the time. [ugh]
The good thing is that the components for SRV fuel and SRV repair are very abundant, so I can rove over thousands of kilometers without worrying about being stranded.
And therein lies the problem. On, "high metal content," worlds, metallic outcroppings are few and far between (100km+).
Outcroppings with Vanadium and Zinc are in one out of ten of those.
o7 to you commanders who have managed to locate enough rare materials for the Engineers!
On the bright side, I've found a little Yttrium!
