Is the diamondback explorer still on sale

Unless you're going to engineer it out, don't bother with the DBX. The stock so is too clumsy to properly dog fight, and she's really lacking in the shields/hull for how slow she is.

If you want a "combat" ship with a good jump range, then the Diamondback Scout is your girl. Otherwise, for the price range, you can't get a better fighter than the Vulture. It's probably one of, if not the best, fighter in the game.

while i fly a (fairly engineered) DBE mostly in 2.1. (love that ship), i can only back @klajorne ... if you don't engineer the hell out of it thrusters, it isn't viable for any role that includes combat (beside surprise attacks...). without it, it is a great smuggler/rare trader/longrange mission runner, but if you are jumped, you need all your tricks to survive, not to kill.

if you want to combat, go DBS -> vulture, or, if you gain imperial rank DBS -> courier.

You can kit out a Vulture very well for around 20 million, and if you're looking for combat it's your bird. It's not very fast, but it is agile. If you end up overwhelmed you can run into issues escaping, though. For the most part you'll be sticking extremely close to the target, and can get over on even much more powerful ships.

Massive fan of the DBE here! I'd agree with previous posters that in anything other than a heavily engineered state there are much better combat ships.

I've been lucky enough to be able to spend a fair bit of resources with the engineers to upgrade mine and it's become a really brilliant little ship that is now also capable of doing combat work, it can also take a heck of a kicking too :D

No doubt. For all people complain about power creep or p2w with the engineers update, I'm a big fan because those boosts have given new life to my favorite ship. I've spent hours working on it, and now my DBX can actually be pretty mean in a fight.

But, that's the thing: I've spent hours to make it viable. Something like a vulture is great right out of the gate, no investment needed.

Your right about having to put some time in with the engineers but I just weaved it into my normal gameplay as much as possible. The plus point though, is that my ships feel even more unique to me and I'm even more attached to them :D

I only have one engineer unlocked and I was planning on investing a good amount of coin into it I was going to use it for escort of trading ships and miner protection and when I'm solo sit in an extraction site and with help from ai destroy for bountys and merits
