Anyone else slightly nervous?

It's my first networked multiplayer game (don't think it really fits being called a MMO) other than over LAN, and in addition to frothing anticipation of the premium beta I'm not really sure how to behave, or how I expect other people to behave. It makes it all doubly exciting as well as making be a bit nervous, as though I'm suddenly going to have an audience.

I shall be going in with some trepidation. Who knows, though, I may find myself wildly attacking anyone who comes near me and then sulking about PvP on the forums afterwards.

Heh, i don't really envy your first forage into multi-player where there are no comms yet.
I hope you wont get discouraged if your experience is negative - things more than probably will be more friendly when people can communicate in-game :)

Anyway, the very best luck to you, and don't worry, you have dealt with obnoxious AI before, im sure - humans you will manage too if you have to ;)

No nerves here - its just another game! It will be great to finally play with other real people out there.

Have fun

From what I've seen thus far on the forums the ED community is both mature and friendly so I hope/expect you'll have a pleasant experience as a newbie to online gaming. This isn't the case with some other MMOs I've tried!

So I wouldn't be worried about initially being a bit overwhelmed or how to 'behave', I expect there will be plenty of players in-game and on here to offer advice and assistance.

As an aside: are there going to be chat channels in beta or the final game, and in particular will there be a specific 'newbies' channel for people like the OP?

Good luck.

Yeah, even the AI pilots in the fleets battling it out at the "Factions" scenario seem to look at me and say tiredly "again?!?" every time I replay it :D

You should be nervous. There's heaps of people only waiting to blow you up as soon as they see you. I'm just gonna scoop the cargo.

I'm in the same position as you. In fact one of the reasons that I went for Premium Beta was to try things out, and make all the rookie mistakes, in a universe that will get reset at various stages :D

playing onlinegames for about 15 years, i'm not nervous at all.

i just like making "things to do first in game" lists, that's why i start a new one every 30 minutes....

I'm pretty sure the ones first to post would be the devs, if they had the time. Must be a lot more pressure for them, then it is anxiety on our side ;)

I think I'm going to suck at PvP.

I was a very good PvPer in Eve, because I had near-infinite money and hours to play. Now I look after two pre-school children on my days off, so I have 10 minutes to practice each day, oh and I STILL can't do incursion!

:p (my four year old says I never use enough pink smileys!)

Roll on a years time, when I can go; nursery run, school run, Kessel run... :)o)
