The Problem With grind isn't that there isn't too much of it , its that its boring , who wants to go on a trading run for 5 hours with infuriating and crappy features ? , who wants to run smuggling missions for hours and hours and nothing happen or doing repetitive missions for ranking

what im saying is make grinding fun, more fulfilling to do, so it doesn't feel like im wasting my life in front of a computer screen

right now its more fun ranking up on the forums than in game :p

other games do it, look at minecraft
Errr, nope, i tried minecraft, i cannot resist one hour the grind was horrendous for me. To be really honest i hate grind in every game, but in some games i can manage to get through it using beers, music, reading books, watching movies on a second system etc, and the only reason i accept the grind is when lose something, i have a real feeling of loss. With this, when i engage in pvp the adrenaline is also real, which makes ED worthy to spend my free time.
But more grind, no way sir, it's more than enough at the moment.

"I like doing repetitive stuff I like. I dont like the repetitive stuff I do in Elite. I am not against doing repetitive stuff, but I must like it. Cant FD make me like doing repetitive stuff more? Right now it feels like I am wasting my life, doing stuff I dont like repeatedly."

Yes, you are wasting your life in front of a computer screen.

Stop grinding?

Just play.
Change your expectations.
It's a game. It's meant to be fun.
All games can be grindy if all you want to do is 'beat the game' 'get the best loot' 'earn the highest rank/level'
At the moment it becomes a grind and the end result doesn't feel worth it, stop playing, do something else...
... Or alternatively, discipline yourself and get to work and stop complaining.

Play it your way.
Remember, everything's fun until it becomes a chore.
Nobody is forcing you.

Sure, he can blaze his own trial with Cobra mk3.
Not everyone would like to roleplay a tragic romantic and poor hero.

Repetiveness in this game is really dull. Look at the diablo 3. There is also grind, there is also repetiveness, but this is not so boring and simple like in elite.

Weird, after 18 months of playing this game, I have yet to find it truly grindy (with the exception of Power Play). Maybe I've been playing it wrong. Personally I'm having a blast earning a reputation as a petty criminal around the Lave system, & boosting my rep with all the major criminal groups within a 30Ly radius.

Stop grinding?

This sounds great but some of us would like to progress beyond cobra and have at least one good upgrade from the engineer. If you want to progress in a reasonable amount of time and actually play the new content you have to grind like a mad man and its not that fun as OP mentioned. Game IS grindy, you cant escape from that unless you blaze your own trial in a starter ship and refuse to progress.

To me D3 is far more dull. Difference between us is that you dont see me hanging around on the blizzard forums whining. Btw, the idea that you need to grind lvl5 mods or you"ll be stuck in a cobra is absurd.

Ah well, addicts will justify their cravings any one way. :)

Because there is no direct interactions betweens players at the end, and you can boost your CMDR and then what? Yes the 58923475234 lvl of more deeper rift :) Even if player do not want direct fight with other player, then this is 'still' somerwhere and other PvP elements like PP and BGS are still in ED and not in D3.

Who says I'm some poor romantic luckless peasant hero stuck in a Cobra?

You don't have to grind to be successful. The moment you get bored, stop playing, it's really simple.

Played Diablo for a long time. Its the most repetitive grindy game I've ever played. At one time it's all I played. Once I got bored. I moved on.

Once Elite Dangerous begins to bore me, I'll move on. I'll come back when there's new content.
It's not hard. It's not rocket science.

There's nothing wrong with the game (that's a different argument), ok, there are things wrong with the game, I'm not a white knight.
Being bored is your problem. Not ours.
Grinding for hours/days/weeks to achieve something is your choice.
Not a problem with the game.
I'm currently 'grinding' exploration. Is it boring? Yes it can be. Do I have an end goal I want to achieve? Yes I do, (all 180,000 light years of it).
My focus is the prize.
Not our problem if you choose to do something and have no fortitude with which to see it through.

I'm not having a go by the way. I just dont understand why players put themselves through this. This is not a thread about mechanics or gameplay or content.
It's about your personal choices and preferences within that game environment.
I get bored, the grind isn't worth it, i play something else, or I go to the gym, or I play my guitar, or I go out on my bike.

I do not understand the omgihavetoplayihavetohaveitnowihave tobashmykeyboardragerageragerage.

Bored. Do something else.

We are not bored on game, we are bored of dull parts of gameplay.

If you do not want to stuck in cobra you need to do a boring things. If want upgrade your Cobra then you need to do boring parts. Collecting whatever here is boring and with lack of any deep.

When you do this boring things then you can get fun from a game and do whatever you want without a boring grindy part.

Trading always was grindy and there is no way to change, but missions are still dull and unprofitalbe in most, there are few good patterns like killing skimmers, changing a destination, but this is still not enough to call it addictive or engaging.

Isn't this the same with any game?

Even the battlefield or call of duty games can be boring and grindy of you choose to play one class just to open all the weapons and specials.

You can rush, grind to get what you want quicker, play the same maps with clan mates to exploit and grind.
This is choice.
In any game, this is choice.
Ultimately, it's an illusion, it rarely changes the game that much that it's absolutely necessary to do this.
It's not a fault, it's not bad game design, it's not actually boring.
It's your choice, followed by opinion based on your experiences.

How dare you take a jab at this wonderful forum community and our completely unbiased moderation team?! You deserve 10,000 deaths!

*Chuckles in the background*

And yea, I had a lot of fun ranking up in this forum.

*Turns to camera with a devious grin*

A lot of fun.

No, because there opening the first and any other single one 'weapon or special' is grindy.

This game needs some kind of 'sub-quests'. Missions still need more deep. Even if you do all from the pattern then it should differ not only by NPC name and destination planet, but something else.

Its fault of lack in quests story, yes, it is fault of game design and its actualy boring.

Almost every action in-game what i need to do is boring. The boring part is over when i done what i need to done and i can play game. Money making is boring, but you need money. Collecting materials is boring, but you need them. RNG is dull but you want an upgrade.

And then, after you make some money, get some ship, some upgrades, a boring part gets over for me and the interesting part is starting - my real gameplay, events what we do with friends, flying, admiring a galaxy.

Thats why people are compaining. They need to do boring things to unlock not boring part of gameplay.

But, this 'need-to-be-done' part, about making money and collecting stuff should also be involving, it should give a fun and should be effective.

Factually not true. You can *easily* earn craptons of money with any profession, doing missions or on your own. Unless you consider everything but pvp/piracy boring, you can get a big fancy ship withour your 'grinding'.
