Plotting Routes using 'fumes' range

Is it possible to get the route plotter to use your 'fumes' range? And if so, how?

I have not had the time to engineer a bigger jump range that around 41 LY for my Anaconda. But when my fuel tank is fairly empty, and thus my ship is lighter, I can jump a few LY further. I am about to cross a 5K LY gap that needs jumponium/higher range frequently. Can I get the route plotter to take this into account, or am I stuck with plotting a few jumps at a time? I have tried to use the route plotter with my tank less than half full, but did not notice any difference - though, of course, I may have just been unlucky.

That said, I have never jumped on 'fumes'. How do I do it? According to the jump range slider, my range at the moment is 43.41 LY. But in the galaxy map, if I select a system 42.31 LY away, it does the jump in two hops. Am I missing something?

Or select to jump using jumponium in the Galaxy Map, then plot to a system within your fumes range.

You can then jump without actually injecting jumponium into the drive. Bonus over the previous approach is that you can target other in-system stuff and still have the "next system" target available.

They already have a scale to allow the plotter to function with a given cargo mass. It would not be hard to simply make this slider full range so you can force the plotter to plot based on any arbitrary mass or make it a bit smarter and have the range be fuel + cargo min and max. This would be immensely helpful.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't hold your breath on seeing that fixed in the game.

We need to find a way to make it useful for pewpew. Then it will be done.

The issue is that you could plot for (say) 50% fuel, then arrive in the first system, scoop and go slightly over 50% and be unable to make any more jumps until you burn it off in supercruise. Which would be a pain...

I wish they'd add:
- An ability to vent fuel (if you could ignite it with your boosters, it'd also make a nice way of blinding thermal sensors / breaking lock-on).
- A feature like you've suggested, but which also places a limit on the fuel scoop so that if you plot for 50%, the scoop stops scooping once the tank reaches 50%, so you never exceed the weight you're plotting for.
