Avatars -- Your Vision

Considering that the current avatars look like freeze dried zombies, I have absolutely no interest in creating such a "face" for myself. And I have no interest in looking at "myself" in any aspect of the game, so from my perspective it's a waste of development time. I'd rather they fix the 0.0h mission delivery bug, or the turret fire bug, things that actually have an impact on the game vs adding more fluff............

Strangely looking forward to an avatar creator (think it will come 2.3, not 2.2 though).

As long as an OUTRAGEOUS moustache (and ideally a topknot) is on the cards, I'll be a very happy bunny. As with everything else I think we'll see a steady improvement in the NPC characters' quality, and I don't mind this coming in Season 2 at all as I'm enjoying the current state of the game .. except the NPC's who are blummin' dangerous to encounter (in a good way) at the moment.

I guess DB has never heard of "Poser"?

Seriously, people - this sort of tech has existed for years. It might be interesting that Frontier is adding editable avatars to the game, but the tech itself isn't mind-blowing nor especially unique.

You're taking my words out of context. It was in reply to a statement about 2D avatars. I was just pointing out that it was a misrepresentation of what little we've seen.

I enjoy character creation in games like Black Desert Online, Elder Scrolls Online, etc.
In those game i get to see my avatar during game play, i see the appearance changes from new gear and weapons, movement and combat animations, weather and light effects.
That avatar i created becomes somewhat relatable.
But in a first person perspective game, how does that add anything ? Off the top of my head i don't recall any first person game that even bothers with it ?
You create your avatar, and after that you're pretty much never going to see him/her again, bare static screens ? Or will the "walking around" be in third person ?
Of course, i know no more than any of you, we'll have to wait for the details, just seems like an odd idea for ED.

The point to me is that everyone else get to see your avatar. Behold my beardy glory facial hair peasents!

Nothing wrong with that of course.
Thing is, i create an avatar for my own enjoyment, not to make an impression on others.
Could be wrong here, but i believe that is what motivates most players to spend hour upon hour in character creators, fine tuning their char.:)

I don't care about them a bit. Why would I need a fake picture of myself in the game? For me to look at? Nope. For others to look at? Nope. I can't think of a single reason.

For some folks, it's important though, and helps to immerse them. I personally enjoy character creation, however I don't really care what my Elite pilot looks like.

2.2 was why I got Season 2; ship launched fighters! It is my dream to board a Condor and launch out of the Fed Corvette for some fast and furious RES combat.

This is the update that my hopes and dreams are pinned to. Fingers are super-duper crossed right now.

It will probably mean more to me once I know about it. For now, flying the ships that I fly I don't think I'll get to use it for a while.

im hoping it will be fully fleshed out. and want to see something like this.

OK, true story... when I was playing the Sims I liked to stay up all night hacking. Finally I realized I could make a "family" and have them do it for me. So I made a bunch of girls, and kept them in a basement with no outside access. Four beds, four computers, a fridge, a toilet, etc...

It worked pretty well for a while, but unfortunately just when I thought I had a good autonomous pattern going I walked away and left it to run, and when I came back they had all died.
Personally I prefer those that stay because they want to. [yesnod]

It was hard enough just to get them to hack all the time without chatting and playing video games and going insane over a dirty dish left on the table. I couldn't have them wandering around, too :p
