Jacques Station + EOL PROU nebula and the barnacle hunt

as you get closer the intentsity up and down slightly goes up in patches but i jammed into one or two on the way in as i wasnt expecting them and lost some hull damage.

But within 200ly - 1000 ly of jacques there are a lot of such systems.

just logging in now, my WP mapping from Caucuma takes a basic straight line route to & from Jaques & didn't I hit any NS/WD/BHs on first approach. I'll have a look on the Galmap & re-plot the last 3k, if I can hit enough systems it'll be worth dropping a couple of hundred LYs.

Yeah I see it, I'll look into that area during my prolonged stay, waiting for Jaques to become fully functional again...could be a few more weeks yet but like Iv stated a few times already, this area was already ear-marked as my next Exploration trip - long b4 FD decided to put Jaques Station in the region.

SC contacts can be found during the famine state, and i think boom, but they are state specific, otherwise youre looking at the nav points and res sites having npcs

Something i havent done a lot of but its worth a little test is nav point policing of wanted npcs ala bounty hunting, i think weve tried all other elements of the background sim, it could be the security rating / lawelessness that might be a factor, probably not but time to poke it with activity

And we know combat actions have a strong effect on the background simulation, and its something that with 100000 in bounties issued yesterday that theres not a lot going on already im up to 4.5 mil worth in an hour or so.

And atm im probably the only one combat fit thats still aactive so it might be well worth seeing if it has any effects, if i notice anything ill let the thread know

Role play wise jacques emerging security forces are still stretched pretty thin so we are assisting them in keeping the illegal aligned npcs of jacques faction to a minimum keeping the system clean so things can develop in a legal not an illegal way

I don't need it to hand in bounty claims, quite the opposite. I've incurred a few fines for dropping off limpets too close to the station. [blah] And for hovering over the wrong pad. [sour]

No worries tho. As I said I'll hang around till Thursday and if it is still in the present condition head back for more MAs.

Has anyone actually seen or heard from Jacques that has been out there? Or is contact only made with Merlin Finch? Haha kind of makes me think of a book I read once called the "The Merlin effect". Is a bit fuzzy in my memory but I think I recall continuously singing whales and a big whirlpool, the ship they were looking for was the "Resurrection" and a prophecy about making the ship rise again ... Maybe we should be searching for Serilliant haha

Ive just checked the thread and it looks like at least so far Fdev arent going to pick those stories up, which may mean the content is not in line with their plans. Silence can be taken a few ways. But i like that bit of creative writing, tanjs is better at putting em together but i thought id give it a go.

I did enjoy youre published article its a nice way of putting it together, you could feel free to tie the lack of meta supplies with the mega tonnage also shipped to jacques to help with the potential repairs.

this is one thing we can continue to do is to record and search for barnacles, perhaps finding the barnys might lead to the pre CG repair progress, or maybe it wont, all indications are though is that the barnacles are or will be very soon on site, all the recent allowed galnet news articles point to that and i think it is something Fdev if they havent already are almost certain to do soon (TM)

How so?
There's nothing on galnet about barnacles aside from fed and imps scrapping over them, barny huggers saying not to shoot them, and a freelance report about a barny hunt out around Jacques's nebula (which is the galnet equivalent of reader's letters)

Nothing to suggest there is in fact signs of barnacle life out there around Jacques's.


I mean you've found tons of ELWs but that doesn't mean there's some strange ape like creatures that have suddenly formed a religion around the flashes from your FSD discharge.

I mean you've found tons of ELWs but that doesn't mean there's some strange ape like creatures that have suddenly formed a religion around the flashes from your FSD discharge.

Sometimes what gets published and what doesnt ( what gets selected and ignored by frontier) can be an indicator and give away subtle clues as to what they are planning. If a story gets through or if it gets ignored may mean its part or not of their planned storyline or acceptible or non contradictory of lore.

Or perhaps not but its all discussion and fun and role play in the end

All good deareim thanks for the involvement to date, everyone has to be careful not to burn themselve out, this whole thread was to try and encourage some form of emergent content and response from Fdev different to their path to date, apart from the markets it seems we havent done enough, or gotten their interest

We have to keep guessing their agenda and august might be a good time to make a return if u wish, if not im sure youre blazed trail may be somewhere in the galaxy , about the same time another game with the NMS (procedural content and yeah emergent gameplay potential) does exist, lets hope frontier jump on board and pay attention nad start to retain more players with smaller scale procedural ingame galaxy response and less hand holding sheep inducing sleep walked events.

Theres a place for those but theres also a place to actually do something with such a large galaxy

We had a commander out here with some UAs ( we need eventual UA/UP testing) i think some testing, dropping off on planet, scanning in soem regard etc.

Ive also dropped biowaste on various moons in system with no result to plant smelly fertizlier, as well as hydrogen fuel but nothing. Some background sim content has improved ( nav point, resource point, state specific Supercruise traffic, but no signal sources and a few other things misssing)

I'm looking at coming out to Jaques Station and I'm after a bit of advice about an Anaconda build I'm putting together. So far I have this. Is there anything I should add/remove bearing in mind my budget is around the 300MCr mark?

the build actually seems pretty solid to me. Allows for mining and self defense, only in jacques will u find npcs at the res sites, all systems nearby are empty but i cant fault the build currently

Yep, brought 2 UA's out here, sadly i wasn't able to reproduce Jaque's regarding his "they sing" comment. Various test have been done, including honking, to no effect - still dropping them whenever something looks funny. But i can't shake the feeling the UA's sole purpose was to point/send data to M5C (they still do out here) and/or hidden objects there.

Well, my Brother allowed me to use his account to pop over to known barnacle sites to check out the conditions and visibility, I headed for Pleiades Sector JC-U B3-2 1 knowing it has a fair few barnacle sites, picked a location (I ignored coords, figured I'd use those if I couldn't find one myself) I thought was promising and found one within seconds of entering normal surface flight(you have no idea how happy it made me that I managed to do this!!!), I was able to spot it from 3.5km away approximately, I then took off and spotted a double barnacle site within a couple of kilometres, the first barnacle appears unknown, the second double site is already listed as known

Very good news, its the first barnacle site found in a while i think in the paladies nebula, well better get back to the jacques nebula search at this end

Thanks for that. I was going for an every eventuality kind of build and that seemed to fit the bill. It will be my first expedtion of more than a couple of thousand light years from the bubble so I though I'd play it safe!
