Your Greatest Discoveries

So I had been exploring for a few months now and today I came across 4 water worlds in ONE system! This by the sheer numbers makes it the single most impressive discovery I have made to date. It's not quite 4 Earth Like Worlds, or an Earth like moon of a gas giant. But still I'd have to say it's pretty impressive. So I wanted to brag about this discovery, and I know that I'm not the only one but still it's a pretty exciting discovery for me! I am also very interested in learning the discoveries of other commanders (post systems that you have not sold the data for yet at your own risk!) Or you can just sensor it like I did!

Fantastic feeling, isn't it? Exactly the same happened to me a few days ago - last 4 worlds of a system were all WWs, 2 of which were terraformable. Was a ridiculous session - 90 minutes, 10 WWs discovered.

But I think I was more wowed by the system I found with two ringed lava worlds - never seen one of those before or since, let alone two in the same system. Was very cool.

Here's one of them (with a gas giant in the background)

That would have been a neat planet to land on, it's a pity lava worlds are considered atmospheric worlds... Still though 10 Water worlds in 90 minutes? I think I might be on the same route you were because I just found two more! :p

as somebody who likes to visit real-galaxy hypergiants in ED, this one is special to me:

HD 168759/HIP 90280

... isn't even far from sol, just a bit off the beaten tracks.

I was going to ask what was so special about your discovery but then I saw how far away the sun was. I'm glad you have such a keen interest in the stars themselves and not just the planets, but having said that, is there a certain planet type you like more than the other?

Nice find Cmdr :) Cheers

If i have to put a list of my favorite discoveries...hmmm. Lets see. In no particular order:

1. A star with enormous 36 000 000km+ ring
2. Two planetary nebulae: Loijeia KR-W E1-10 and Oephail DA-A E47
3. System with two very massive Hebrigs, WR and a Black Hole
4. System with Big Four: Water World,TC Water World, Ammonia World and a Earth-like World
5. A ringed ELW orbiting Neutron Star (it was worth 71600Cr)
6. Three ringed WWs and a ringed AW

7. This amazing system. It doesnt fit in one screen

8. This mammoth planet

9. A I0 type star, which seems to be the rarest procedure generated object. In addition to that and as far my knowledge goes this star is the largest procedure generated object reported so far:

7 impresses me the most! Are those ammonia worlds in the system? Certainly ammonia water worlds at least right? The other one I really liked was the ringed Earth Like World... that must have been very beautiful, its a shame you don't have a screenshot of the planet :(

4 ww in a system is very impressive! I think my best was 3.

Frawd

Hey even three water worlds is pretty good! :)

No AW in that system. It has two WWs and one Water Giant.

I dont have a close up screen of the ringed ELW. But i do have screen of the system itself:

Hmm.

A system with 5 suns in 100ls, a system with 5 WWs in a straight line (with 2 TC), a zone of ~300 Herbig stars, a few clusters of carbon stars, a zone of 125 Wolf Rayets, a few planetary nebulae, a couple supergiants.

And stuff :D

EDIT: And an ELW around a Herbig star.

well.., i'm still always happy to find an earth-like, and get as close as possible around one, orbiting it and watch the clouds and continents. and i like water-worlds, for the whole idea of taking a spaceship with submarine capabilities out there - i normally "dock" at a waterworld at the end of a session when out exploring.

but for me it is mainly the joy of flying to real galaxy stars in the ED universe as a goal, plus the challenge of routeplotting, which let me explore these days. my current trip to jaques i hope to combine with finding a path to V4641 Sagittarii, and will search to locate the pistol star.

I'm not sure if they would be my "greatest" discoveries, but my favourite ones are:
- Being the first to get to the planetary nebulae IC 4997 and NGC 6891, in early June this year. Back in Gamma, I got my tag on several non-procedural stuff too, but as those were the early days, that doesn't really count. I wrote up a travel log of sorts here.
- Little Gem Sector HR-W d1-0: a little gem of an Earth-like World, right next to the Little Gem nebula, in a very sparse region of space - FSD boosts are required. It was also the first reported ELW that was only reachable with jump spells.
- Having been the first one to do a direct crossing of the Outer Arm Vacuus, to NGC 1893 - with the route having been named the Daedalus Crossing later. It was very enjoyable because I didn't know if it could even be done, so I was blazing a trail. And hey, best of all it later inspired Vitamin Arrr to make the best Elite exploration map to date. (Nah, he's not paying me to promote it.)
- A system that has a cool variety of words, is close to Sol and netted my biggest payout to date, with an orrery available on EGO: NGC 2451A Sector OX-U C2-8

I haven't really had much luck with water worlds, then after having read this thread, I came across a solitary A star with two WWTC-s, and a trinary trio of "regular" WW-s. So, looks like this thread brings luck!

Here's one for you I discovered on my way out to the Heart and Soul Nebulae:

And as for earth-likes I found this system which has at least one (there are possibly two others or they are water worlds but I didn't realise until later after I'd left the system so I didn't scan them):

Great find OP! I've yet to come across such systems... Perhaps I haven't explored this galaxy enough.

This isn't anything compared to WW discoveries, but I just found a massive Icy Body (landable!). Take a look at this thing.

18,525km radius, 2.10G. about 1,500LY from SOL.

It has long white scars, large craters with blue-ish dust...
Seriously though, I was just making my way - very slowly - towards Jaques and there I run into this oddity. I just had to share it.
