Engineers Anyone found Military Supercapacitors?

If your still looking for them there are plenty of missions for them at Sothis and Ceos. They are around 400ly away though but the number of missions is much bigger though than anywere else I have seen.

I'll grab my Asp and head that way, thanks for the tip.

Hello CMDRs. If anyone is still interested, head to 26 Draconi, route to 26 Draconis B (Star) and search for Encoded Emissions. I got 10 Supercapacitors in 1 hour.

I tried this system a few days ago and got my first 5 supercaps, so thanks for that. However I did notice that in the first 1.5hr of searching encoded SSs I didn't find any, however after a few logging out and back in attempts I eventually got 3 from one encode, and 5 min after that got another two from another. After that I didn't find any at all. So it seems even in systems at war where the main faction is at war it can still be rare to find any. You can get lucky and get a bunch or none for a very long time.

My advice to others is make sure the system you are in has a good spawn rate for SSs and good frequency of encoded signals. For instance if you are most only encountering degraded signals and/or the signals have a low spawn rate, relog to roll the RNG dice on what signals spawn/frequency. I have noticed this in other systems as well. Also try to stay in deep space and not shipping lanes (encoded and degraded spawns in shipping lanes is very poor). War state systems don't guarantee supercaps, but they do guarantee a chance at getting supercaps. Because they are still rare in a "true" war system I'm not sure if the major faction has to be at war or not, or whether any faction can be at war, either way it doesn't hurt to try, but systems with major faction at war can at times be very rare.

So Sothis's controlling faction is at war. I spent some time switching through the mission boards, no sup caps as rewards. I'll be flying around looking for encoded uss when I have more time later tonight, hopefully some will appear containing some.

ok what gives? I have been to tons of systems at war. Ive been to CEOS with the controlling faction at war. I have been to many random systems and I have checked out both Encoded missions and mission boards. Not to mention combat zones.
Nothing. And I have been searching since saturday. Plz help Fdev!

I've got a load of these via mission rewards, going to use them for a high-capacity missile rack for the Clipper soon-ish.

So when I was searching a couple weeks ago in Sothis (Controlling faction was at War) I did not have any luck from the mission board. I tried several different methods, but only had success from flying about 500- 800ls away from the star, was considered in 'deep space' and only entered Encoded Signal Sources. The 2nd or 3rd ESS had 4 Supercapicators. I spent another hour or two doing the same thing, but didn't have any more luck finding any.

Same thing with pharmaceutical isolators for me. I have 6 of these things from yesterday from missions but not 1 super capacitor. I did see a mission for 1 on Sunday but I needed to be cordial :/

The main control faction has to be at war - I do know. But I had no luck to actively search and find them at all! So usually I check the normal mission board and look for any rare material and get them (with others) quite regular.

I noticed this too. There seems to be a limit to how many you can get from the same system in a day. Someone else mentioned in another thread that they seem to be treated in a similar way to station rare commodities, and I agree.

For some reason they have introduced an anti-farming system in encoded USSs for military supercaps (found in systems where controlling faction is in a state of war), pharmaceutical isolators (found in systems where controlling faction is in outbreak state), and impoverished components (found in systems where controlling faction is in a state of civil unrest). I found the same to be true for the spawn rate of all of these components, and I've spent hours looking for each. Also it does seem as if the controlling faction must have the relevant state.

I would say the general limit seems to be 4-6 of these components fairly close together (2 or 4 at a time), and then you find nothing for hours. From my experience it seems as if this is a daily amount, or at least a many hours between spawning and not spawning. Even relogging doesn't change these components spawn frequency, even though doing this can change the instance for that system so it spawns more encoded USSs to degraded with higher USS frequency (which does help for finding other more common components in encoded USSs). A bit sad and unnecessary really that they added this mechanic for MScaps, PIs, and ICs.

As for finding these components as missions rewards it does seem as if you can get them very rarely for non-controlling fractions that have the relevant state, but I have also found them as rewards where neither the system or its fractions have the the state required, so it seems as if this can be totally random too.

OMG I FINALLY GOT SOME!!! So here is what I did and I am going to type this in as much detail as possible for anyone else to find. I flew out to ceos where the controlling faction is at war. I flew out 33000 LS away from the star at a eighth throttle and just browsed reddit while waiting for encoded missions to pop up. It seems to me that encoded missions spawn more frequently the further you are from the main star. I hope this info helps someone!

Hey Postal - Thank you very much. Made 5 Military Supercapacitors and a bunch of Military Alloys within 2 hours!

No worries bud! It drives me nuts to no end when people on the Internet solve a problem and then never say how they solved said problem. Being a diy mechanic I run into this so much it gives me a stroke.

High Grade items found and multiplier nerf.

Thank you Postal. I used your search methods in a controlling faction at war system, Unktondjin, and it was about 2 plus hours of cruising with the system sun on the bow or the stern. I went out as far as 55000ls, but found MILSUPERCAPS 3 times, first @ 31858ls, second @ 36756ls and thirdly @ 36,378ls. I also found MILSPEC alloys in the same search area. A rep for you.

Funny thing, when I picked the caps up the first 2 were four items, the last one 3 items so 4+4+3=11 caps, right? When I looked in my cargo hold, it read 33 caps!! The same thing with the alloys, 31! I am absolutely sure of the counts because they were displayed on my port HUD as 4, 4, and 3 and in my main scanner.

This happened yesterday when I recovered Improvised Components when I found that I had more than I had counted when getting them. I dismissed it then as an error on my part but after today, I believe FD has given a positive nerf multiplier to these items.

Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon?

It is not a phenomenon, it was a change in the last patch: 1 mat found now = 3. I think this was a quick fix change as they obviously didn't have time to visually indicate this increase (unless you look at your mats).

Thank you for this system. Spent all day at other Civil war controlling faction system without any luck.
This sytem gave me 27 military supercaps at two High-grade USS in 20 mins. No luck with encoded uss though..

They are found in systems with controlling faction at WAR not civil war. Since last patch fixed the galmap filter and the triple mat buff, getting supercapacitors has become ridiculously easy. Dropped into one high grade USS and BAM! 15 military supercapacitors (5 milcaps x 3)

The way it seems to be set is that encoded gives you pvt. data and some mats, degraded gives you an asst. of lesser mats and high grade gives you the rare items. I went through any number of USS when I found the MILSPEC supercaps and that was the pattern. One of the aggravating things about controlled systems in war is finding them on the map, you have to manipulate the map so you can spot those dim markers. It is better than a while back when the markers didn't correspond to the actual state of the system.

Phenomenon:

A fact or situation that is observed to exist or happen, especially one whose cause or explanation is in question.

"I think this was a quick fix..."

Hasn't been explained by FD, which is their MO to increase the mystery of the game, so I think the word fits.

But let's not quibble over semantics, on to a grade 5 MC at Tod's place.
