I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but I just noticed the system description for Merope reads -

"The system is seen as the key for a mystery starting in 3301 with the discovery of unknown artefacts that point to this system. The first of an alien species known as 'barnacles' was discovered on Merope 5 c in 3302."

I'm not sure if it has any relevance to the key reference in the newsletter, but I found it interesting that the same word is used. Could just be a coincidence, and I'm not sure if it helps anyone solve anything but i thought I would share an observation

I just remembered that some tip off were refering at some kind of "inteligent lights". I keep believing that once we do the right actions, these lights are the "message" that will be revealed to us.

Been checking out quite a few of the singing wrecks tonight - but this time I've noticed they have knocking in the background.
Most prominent is the Diamondback.
Is it morse? A cry for help?
Someone is knocking on the hull! ^^

The Condor / Eagle / Sidewinder - you can sometimes hear knocking from these as well, but very low. (The singing variants).
Anyone able to decipher what's going on here?

A Eagle / Condor combo should be ready here in about 10 minutes or so.
I wasn't aware of the knocking, or rather didnt pay attention to it until I found the Diamondback, so there is very little knocking sequences in this one.

Thread 7 lived for several months. Days into thread 8, we are already just shy of 1/6th the way to thread 9.

This hidden message stuff not being discovered ASAP has given people an excuse to explore and connect. I spent hours "playing ED" in Audacity last night, totally new game experience.

With so much passion flying around, some is bound to get stuck to the fan blades of science.

We all want the same thing - to find whatever it is this thing leads us to - together.

And we will.

I know - this thread has developed some legs ! Just spent the evening glancing through the past weeks posts .... Im still loving MBs response to you ....

The UAs purpose is a transmitter.

I mean ... we knew it transmitted ... but now we know it is a transmitter. It has a purpose ... a raison d'etre... brings back memories

And as a transmitter it fits into a pattern - and we can start looking at the UP as part of that pattern (feels like might be a transponder) which might suggest where to look for free floaters ...

Maybe those extra arcs on the top of the basketball are transmit and receive symbols ...

I know, I know, I did it only because I was curious if that CMDR was trolling us, and moreover because if I see something new, or that I did not know, I have to try it myself. I don't think that song/music is relevant or useful. The most that it can be is an easter egg, like Braben face in the other spectrogram. ;)

Well done CMDR! I've checked it and I can confirm we have Braben face, Elite logo, Frontier logo, a wireframe Cobra, And SOME MORSE CODE LIKE glyohs on the middle/upper part of the spectrogram.

I'll post them later, I've them on my PC at home.
And YES, the UP does not react while in hold: it needs to be outside to reply. Anyway, I cannot deny that some other result could be obtained with UP in hold, while doing THINGS SOMEWHERE.
