Already checked out the planetary rings some, oddly there's a lot of NPCs out there. Cargo scanned and honked everything I saw, of course. Killed a few pirates and uh... test subjects. Nothing out of the ordinary

*WARNING* Crazy theory incoming.

So. We know that the UP responds to the signal from our discovery scanners, that much is certain.
But...
What if it's only responding to a portion of it? Our discovery scanners send out a pulse in all directions, only a small amount of which would be received by the UP, which it then processes and returns with interest. Has anyone ever used a discovery scanner whilst NOT facing the UP directly? For instance, with the UP at 45/90 degrees to their ship?
If the UP was then able to decrypt the signal left and right of the 'front facing' part in relation to our ship, we may be given different parts of the whole image?

Probably nonsense and disproved within seconds, but still.

I did ask earlier if anyone had analysed the "question"that the probe was answering.

not to be rude...... and no specific to this post .....but there is one of the problems with smart people....they forget not everyone knows what they know...JPL? jacksons party line? .......It may be obvious to those who know....but many of us don't, ignorance by the way doesn't equal stupidity

This. Merope has no nav beacon.

Whoops. I only mentioned Merope because everyone's so obsessed with it. Scanning the UP next to any nav beacon would be worthwhile. The nav beacons emit morse code of the system name, perhaps they change their signal when exposed to the UP.

They were not "water marks" , they are a Easter egg, its a Cobra from the original game (with ELITE over it) a Elite logo(only the upper part), The Braben face smilling(   !!!) and some repeated Frontier logo in te vertical.

There seems to be Morse code in the high frequency beeps near the word "Elite" in the audio frequency analysis. Did anyone else catch that?

So, being me that kind of "OK, I'll do it myself" person, I've installed FL Studio 12, I've learned the basic in 5 minutes, and decided to reproduce the little nice song someone presumed to find in the glyphs on the left side of the spectrogram. So I've chosen a couple of the best images we have, and cut just that glyphs.
I did not edit the image in any way: you'll see it stretched only because the Bitmap to Sound Plugin stretches it automatically, to fit the area.

Well, that CMDR was not trolling us, at least.

Hi Riz, can you show the input (extract of sonogram glyphs) you used for that process?

also- I got confused by one of your earlier posts; can you confirm whether or not the UP responds to an ADS scan whilst in your cargo hold? I thought it had to be deployed to be able to respond?
