Well just arrived at elephants trunk...Time to check out some of the systems

Nothing but three degraded emission USS in GM Cephei. Went into one of the Trumpler 37 systems, another degraded emission USS.

Just picking an arbitrary system 139LY from GM Cephei, then off to bed.

Pointless Experiment Fails but was fundamentally flawed:

Thought it dull but necessary to travel in Eco Mode from Merope to Varati, stopping to look at USS for 10 mins, hoping to find a Wild UP
Lots of dull later, I realized I had passed though the UA Shell and not spotted a UA. So whats the chance of findind a UP if I cant even find a UA ? Naff All

Off to Elephant once I can shake off the dull

Any body else seen a bright light in the black on the way to the elephant trunk? it looks like a pocket of really bright stars but it doesn't show up on the galaxy map. I'll grab an image hang on...

I usually get an Anomoly USS at least every three USS. I just wait til i've spotted that many in the one system, and explore it at the same time.

Well, given that an exploration ship will pass through that shell without so much as stopping in it at full range, chances are you were only in one or two shell systems - and not for very long.

Well, given that an exploration ship will pass through that shell without so much as stopping in it at full range, chances are you were only in one or two shell systems - and not for very long.

Was in Eco Mode. 3 were technically in the Shell

I've been doing the exact same thing though I spent a little more time in each system. As I noted day before yesterday I picked up 2 UAs as I passed through the shell. I felt vaguely confident that my approach was validated in that I did spot UAs in two different systems though I will admit I probably dawdled there a bit longer. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...7-The-Canonn?p=4269990&viewfull=1#post4269990

I eventually abandoned that line of attack after I was clearly in the bubble and am pondering a different approach.

Its NGC some digits nebula - will dig it out later - black hole central

Drat - didn't write name down - I just flew towards it till I got there

Yeah, that's normal. It's NGC 7822 Nebula.

Ahh! thank you, it was getting highly distracting, I wanted to go see! I think if I go though I should pack some sunglasses judging by how bright they are, are the black holes surrounded by stars?
