Just logged in to play Alpha 4 for the last time here in Ottawa; where it is still the 29th May; and the Installer is downloading a new version :S
Does this mean what I think it does?

To be quite honest, I will be really surprised if it is, in fact, Premium Beta as FD normally seem to release new versions in the late afternoon GMT or perhaps early Evening.
This usually is quite frustrating in North America as I always have several hours of work before I can get back to initiate the install.
Also, I have ED on my PC on Ottawa, but I go home at weekends to Belleville, several hours away, so I can never get on until the following week when I am back in Ottawa.
I am just going to have to build a new PC in Belleville for ED at the weekends
Just logged in, straight to Alpha.. I last downloaded the client yesterday (29th), after I had problems.
I would imagine that Frontier would want to have live performance information for the PB release and unless someone has stayed in the office with a sleeping bag, I'm guessing a mid afternoon update?

I am at 80% now.
You are probably right, although I played last night OK.
However, that said, I did get an "endless" Hyperspace sequence where I had to kill the task, so that might be why.

Being very new to the whole ED update procedure, I'm wondering: will an uninstall of the current PB (alpha 1.1 version) be required (or recommended if one needs to save space on his C drive) once the new d/l is complete? Or will the update simply over-write everything in the current folder?

OK - Install Completed !!
I now have a brand spanking version of Alpha 4.03
I guess my crash yesterday corrupted a few things...
Oh well it was a nice idea while it lasted

System repair and Windows backup
I have just woken up and today is my Birthday so quite excited for several reasons, not least the truly EPIC birthday treat I bought for myself (because I'm worth it lol) that I hope Mr Braben will be delivering ASAP.
Meanwhile, now seems like a good time to do a Windows backup and create a system repair disc. (Just in case the install goes "pear shaped" and because the shiny new UberPC I also treated myself to hasn't had much TLC yet). :smilie:

It should just overwrite, the others have.
A complete uninistall (don't forget to record your joystick binds somewhere for both) would do no harm, however. It may remove some bits of crud you no longer need.
But I can't sit still........

Oh I am SO jealous!
Living in the US - you have absolutely no idea how hard it is to find decent bacon here! The usual stuff is beyond abysmal.
