Some other useful facts not mentioned here:
Painite is a BOOM commodity now. It sold for 45Kpt in the 'old days'.
Now it sells for about 20Kpt in War, civil war, states and 75Kpt in Boom.
If you want to make profit at mining, know where to sell your Painite before you head out.
My conda with 300 cargo will do approx 30 Painite on a 'good' session, in a Pris. Met. ring. That doesn't mean that 100 limpets
will see 10 Painite, but it's close.
I have NEVER seen an Npc miner find Painite. Would be nice. I would follow those turkeys all day.
For some reason, Painite is often found alongside Indite and Gallite.
If you are running out of limpets,[or only can carry a few to start with] use your lasers to 'strip mine' a few asteroids to see what pops out.
Don't fire too long though, because you want to use a Prospector to boost the yield when you do find one that holds the P. I like to get 3 fragments out of a rock,
move on to the next and check my contacts list every 3 rocks I shoot. For this method, I would use a Clipper or a Python.. better maneuverability.
"A" rated prospectors give higher yields than other ratings.
Good luck, commanders!

Also, when a collector has a target, it plucks that target and expires. That's so a pilot can enter an area and quickly take just what's needed.
Collectors in ''automatic" attempt to grab anything in their range and are slower at doing so.
It's not inexplicable.
