panite mining, so rare?

anyone have a successful methodology? been in a pristine, metallic inner ring for hours now, 1 ton of panite, 15 t of platinum and 19t palladium.

I've recently re-entered a system I used for mining Painite and found abolutely nothing. Zilch. Nada. It does look like Painite percentage has been nerfed considerably.

Find pristine metallic resources, go in at random location, aim towards a destination, scan stuff towards that, I usually aim towards the planet, while scanning, Painite is rare yes, as it should be, but not impossible.

This is what i do. Found quite a bit but i have spent a fair bit of time mining. It is rare but if you're prepared to spend some time looking its there

so please explain "scan". i do go in at random inner location, but scan? how?

COL 285 SECTOR AR-L C8-14, the big ring around the big planet, dark area near planet (not outside rim).
COL 285 SECTOR SL-Z B15-3, the big ring around the big planet, dark area near planet (not outside rim).

These 2 areas can help you for 3P (Painite, Platine, Palladium), secondary loots are gold, osmium, praseodinium etc... If you prefer find a nearest place to farm, just compare planetary and ring statistics on the left corner of your system map, I am sure you can find it in your neighbourhood.

You need a bit of luck, just keep shooting prospector limpets. I have in my mining python 80 limpets for collecting and prospecting. Until the 192t cargo are filled and limpets all ampty i find in most instances at least one big rock of painit. From 192t cargo there are usually 5-20 tonnes of painit

Clearly you haven't hunted for Low Temp. Diamonds yet lol...Painite is rare but if you're lucky you can find rocks with 30%+ which can yield several tons per rock. Heck I've found Osmium to be harder to find lately than Painite in my mining spot.

in this nerfed situation it would take too many, with limited results. i wonder if the engineer will accept purchased panite?
Nothing has been nerfed, please do not begin saying that.
Prospectors ALSO allows you to get more per asteroid, meaning once you do find painite you get more of it, heck you get more of everything, do not go mining without them, they are expendable and inexpensive there's no reason not to.

How to find panite for none mining players.
Yes I don't mine often but I needed panite for an engineer so I grabbed an asp with 68t of cargo and prospector limpets I took 64 limpets and dropped into a pristine metallic with a full mining loadout. Fireing prospectors at every rock. When I was down to 10 limpets I found panite just enough to unlock the engineer lost a few collectors because the asteroid was spinning wildly. Jumped out with 10t of panite and 0 limpets. Yes it's rare but not impossible to find.

Always use a prospector limpet when mining you get much more material from each rock also keep shooting the prospector at rocks until you find them with Painite. to use a prospector limpet you must be pointing directly at the rock you want to shoot. I set the prospector controller up on the #2 trigger and the mining lasers on the #1 trigger. That way I have the crosshairs to use for targeting the rock with the prospector limpet.

Don't forget to target the prospector limpet once it's fired and in view.

Don't select fragments, the collectors will inexplicably self-destruct once they have collected the selected fragment.

Go for pristine metallic rings. There's a list here - http://edtools.ddns.net/ (A is inner)

I usually avoid resource sites, just drop slowly into the ring wait to see what spawns, let it scan me then watch it wake out. If you have nothing in your hold any pirate will clear off.

Some other useful facts not mentioned here:

Painite is a BOOM commodity now. It sold for 45Kpt in the 'old days'.
Now it sells for about 20Kpt in War, civil war, states and 75Kpt in Boom.
If you want to make profit at mining, know where to sell your Painite before you head out.

My conda with 300 cargo will do approx 30 Painite on a 'good' session, in a Pris. Met. ring. That doesn't mean that 100 limpets
will see 10 Painite, but it's close.

I have NEVER seen an Npc miner find Painite. Would be nice. I would follow those turkeys all day.

For some reason, Painite is often found alongside Indite and Gallite.

If you are running out of limpets,[or only can carry a few to start with] use your lasers to 'strip mine' a few asteroids to see what pops out.
Don't fire too long though, because you want to use a Prospector to boost the yield when you do find one that holds the P. I like to get 3 fragments out of a rock,
move on to the next and check my contacts list every 3 rocks I shoot. For this method, I would use a Clipper or a Python.. better maneuverability.

"A" rated prospectors give higher yields than other ratings.

Good luck, commanders!

Also, when a collector has a target, it plucks that target and expires. That's so a pilot can enter an area and quickly take just what's needed.
Collectors in ''automatic" attempt to grab anything in their range and are slower at doing so.
It's not inexplicable.

this tool. http://edtools.ddns.net/ is a life saver! grab your prospector limpets, go to the inner most ring of a pristine metal rich planet and you are going to find panite. I found 10 tons in 20 mins.. and a boat load of gold silver palladium and platinum . there were a few npc miners in the area but also some cops patrolling.. but be careful where there is gold there is pirates.. you don't have to be in a RES to get messed with.. but make sure you are in solo.. ;) happy mining!
