Not enough credits for rebuy... does this mean its game over?

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words of support and sympathy (except for 1!)

So yes, there's insufficient funds in the loan even to buy back a stripped down conda with no mods. I think the debt was so bad it wouldn't even allow me to click on the "Declare bankruptcy!" button!

I also appreciate the many PM's with people generously offering supplies and stuff to get me back on the road, but I wasn't really asking for any handouts, I'm not like that, just some possible solutions to get out of this mess.

Anyway, looks like I'm back in the Sidewinder for now... although I'm having trouble getting anywhere so far... with less than 1000cr in the account I don't have the jump range to get back to the Vulture and not enough funds to buy a decent fuel tank or scoop even! Looking for some very low level missions to get me started, so I'll let you know how I go!

If all else fails, I might hit you up for those donations ;)

Congrats on taking it as a challenge ... you will be back where you were faster than before.

If all else fails, the offer stands.

So I've been flying around in a Python for a while and was getting sick of getting pawned by every other ship out there. Finally came across an opportunity to buy an Anaconda that I could trade up to by trading in the old ship and loadout and with the extra credits I had saved up.

With just enough credits for a modest loadout with some some extra weapons and shielding etc, I was left with just a few thousands credits which I though would take no time to rebuild.

Unfortunately I bit off abit more than I could chew with a few too many baddies in a USS and got destroyed. Now I don't have enough credits for the insurance loan to rebuy the ship. The only option is to revert back to a Sidewinder.

I don't even have enough for the Old Loadout option available as the maximum loan is only 7.5M and I need 11.3M to rebuy. Does this mean I just lost everything??? Start over??? A year and half of playing down the tube???

oops - sorry for your loss, i did this only once ! I had to go and lie down for a while and re-frame myself.

I remember an excitement to pulling it all back together, it took me a few days, but a little OCD soon had
my python back and it wasnt long until i had an empty conda that I more carefully kitted out.

If you have some "rich chums" they can always dump some high value items for you "round the back of the
station wink wink" ....

You were honest about it and posted (I didnt) - so good for you

When I got my cutter I kitted it out with 740t of cargo and didnt have insurance the first 5 flights .... and i was within 5% of going pop once

TBH, I never really paid attention to the insurance cost before, never been in that situation. I always thought you would just die and lose your ship and cargo etc. never ever expected that the insurance cost would not be enough to cover the cost of the ship. Now we know.

Listening to Disturbed "The Light" for inspiration on the radio right now!

I think a lot of us have been here. My condolences.

You'll be back, just wait. Probably flying that sidey next weekend or sooner.

Edit:

Oh I see you're already back in that sidey. :D

as a fellow of '85 I offer CR5m - I usually hang around near the founders world ... send me an invite once you have cargo space
and i'll sort you out with some dodgy speakers ..... put a pony in me pocket, i'll get the cash packed suitcase from the space-van ....

Real men never READ manuals !!! I've just bought a MAN PAD RBS-70 on the black market, I am not going to read the manual! I don't NEED to ! I have confidence ! It is the same as when I bought a electrically fired mini gun.. Though I do miss my entire family :( Even the cat :(
But I still say manuals are for whiners and sissies.
Real men are invincible, they are Trump!

Cheers Cmdr's

Thanks for the offer! I could use a new subby...

Oh crap... just got blown up... pulled into a station to dock and I get attacked while I'm coming in to land by some random npc... *sigh*

This radio station must be spying on me. Now they're playing "Welcome to the Jungle!" How appropriate.

The first rule of Elite: Dangerous: you do not launch without rebuy funds

The second rule of Elite: Dangerous: you do not launch without rebuy funds!

But still... ouch... :(

Sidewinder time. Never fly without rebuy. It's the main rule of this game.

It isn't a reset, though. You still have your ranks and reputations.

Ya dun goofed.

Or make up some half believable lie to support about a bug or glitch or whatnot and they will return your Anaconda.

1) Sell the Vulture
2) Buy a nice T6
3) Equip it for max jump and cargo.
4) Go to Sotis (google long range missions)
5) Get as may long range cargo transport missions you carry.
6) Drop them off
7) goto 4

You'll be in an Anaconda in no time I guarantee it.

Update!
After several days of ing around in the Sidewinder, I managed to scrape up enough credits to get a decent FSD to be able to jump a reasonable distance to get to my other ship... wasn't easy though, stuck in a Hostile sector meant that I was an easy target for all the pirates and other unsavoury types... boom, boom, dead... start again.

I've managed to get my hands on an Asp Explorer now, doing some low level runs to get back in the game... a couple of mill in the bank, but still need to be careful... lost the ASP a couple of times already... a bit squishy versus other foes still.

One day... I'll get enough in the bank to get that Python or Anaconda again... one can only dream.

You should try if you can afford it if you uncheck all modules ... maybe you can afford the base hull at least.

If all else fails, I can drop you a million in goods to help lessen the blow. I'm in my way to Jaques right now, but the Teabaggers Relief Fund can help you if needed.
Repped for the raw generosity. Cheers.

Buying big ships without insurance covered is one of the worst mistakes people can do in this game, earn more experience and calculate a few rebuy costs on top of the cost of your new ship, also add the price of buying top modules for it... , that's the money you need to buy a better ship, just buying a 56M ship with just enough to buy it on account doesn't do any good, you need experience to understand this, be wise what you do, that's the most important thing in the game ! Also there are no endgame ships in ED, buying an Anaconda could not be ther right thing to do unless you know what you are doing, it has bad maneuverability and it's incredibly slow, there are several people buying Pythons or Anacondas thinking they will kick every enemy they come across, it's totally wrong! They are slow ships and can be beaten by more maneuverable ships , imagine getting caught in a wing of 3-5 NPCs ganking you, you will have no escape unless you manage to kill them all or you are quick at jumping out, having to pay 11M+ insurance might really not worth it, as I see it, those ships are good as transport ship or good if you go combat with a wing of players in smaller ships, otherwise be sure you will just lose them unless you have enough experience with combat

Yeah, the insurance doesn't "cover" anything. It just lets you pay 5% of the cost as your deductible and then buy a new ship. If you can't pay your deductible, you get no payout and thus no ship. It is a bit silly that you can't pay the deductible later and get the payout, even if it was time limited, but that's the way the mechanic works.

I've managed to get my hands on an Asp Explorer now

AspX with a grade 5 FSD can easily make it out to any of the long distance trading stations. Sothis/Ceos still works in one direction last I checked. There are other similar options that can get you pushed forward relatively quickly.

(I am French, I use a translator, I hope the translation is good)

Personally I soon noticed the danger in not having enough credit for redemption (rebay).

I rarely redeemed because I blow my ships rarely,

but this system paralyzes me , for example my python cost me a little over 6 million cr for his redemption.

6 million credit it's getting , it fits me pretty meadows 1hour to chain quests if I find profitable .

Finally, I play some multiplayer , and certainly not while returning from a long period of exploration and I stop at the first station that I found on the back.

I do a bit of fighting, but frankly I 'm not comfortable with this system .

I have a Federal corvette (rebay ? supperior to 30 000 000 cr) 5-10% of 187 million plus the equipment, its value rises very quickly, you will not see often as I can tell. although I used it several time in multiplayer is an exceptional fact.

but even without multiplayer I nearly spit me sometimes.

my python exploded recently because of a bug, nothing serious , I largely 6 million cr for the refund , but with my corvette in hand, he does not need it often happens to me, I would become quickly ruined.

finally the more fun it is with a small ship and a lot of credit and good ranking , I can destroy me 3000 sidewinder in combat without problems or fly through the canyone, entered a station in supercruse like StarWar (I'll have to try it elsewhere [yum]). I'm joking of course that I could do it with small ships, no pleasure to do it.

I understand the idea behind, prevent players do a little anything, for the pleasure of playing I think this system should be rethought personally.
