Engineers Marco Qwent

This dude ...

I mean. 48 hours getting Sirius to allied status and their permit.

24 hours stacking missions for modular terminals

5 minutes ranking up to rank 3 and 1/3 to unlock Palin.

He has no real purpose in this game, only a single one:

latest

Why, Frontier? WHY?!

Atleast give him G5 Railguns and/or Plasmas but right now, he respectfully deserved his nickname Marco C. Everything he offers is not unique as other engineers are offering the same with a better grade. OMW to Palin now, bye bye, little boy. I hope I will never see you again. You've effectively wasted my precious time.

Ugh.

Yeah friend, this guy "Marco Qwent" is a damn grinder.
Tell me, I lost all my modular terminals and have to keep on this.
Doing "Missions" and battle with that RNG...

It is very boring.

Sumate our party when I lost the modular terminals.

We need to cut the balls.

Funny this should be mentioned - I was thinking about how useless he is earlier.

Not only does he possess no strength that is unique to him, all his skills are completely available from another single engineer. Hera Tani does exactly what he does, but can actually do power plants to grade 5 rather than not being fully specialised anywhere like Marco. So he is literally almost entirely redundant, unless you live next to him and are lazy.

Yes, since you get Rank 5 PD's from a starting engineer and Hera Tani is trivial to unlock, effectly Palin's unlock requirements are:
Allied with Sirius Corp
Travelled 5000ly
31 Iron
25 Modular Terminals
25 Unknown Fragments

He really needs a rank 5 recipe unique to him.

I'm in agreement that his only purpose is to make those grade 5 dirty drives an extended adventure.

Butttttttttt ohh how those G5 DD's are worth it. If you happen to pilot a Cutter or Python, they're a must for the sheer fun factor.

i cant even unlock him, did me sirus permit, im now grinding mod terms. and still no unlock :/
I just unlocked him tonight on my second cmdr account. On both of my accounts, I had to go to the outpost in Sirius that's 10k ly out; not the station. From there I immediately got a mission to another 10k ly station in Procyon. The mission reward is an invite to visit Qwent on the planet back in Sirius that the original outpost orbits - another 10k. Then, of course, you have to come up with the 25 modular terminals.

Whoever designed this engineer at Frontier truly has a sadistic streak.

And that's if you can even get missions to rank with Sirius. Literally after the first 3 mission runs the Sirius corp just up and stopped giving missions. COMPLETELY! Went to sothis and stuff, all other corps are swimming in missions, Sirius corp 0/0.
Log-spamming maybe gets me one mission every 6-7 logs; this is horse sh...

Totally agree with OP. I am triple elite, with huge amounts of hours played. I have put up with the grind, but 25 modular terminals are destroying my commitment to the game.

Players will say just go about your business normally, and missions with MT's will appear. That's not how I play. I tend to be focused on one goal, and that's to get lvl 5 dirty drives from Palin. Now I am not flying, and just checking the mission boards every half hour for MT's. As a pensioner, time is a valuable commodity, and FD are destroying my experience.

I challenge one of the FD game developers to play this game, get 25 MT's and see how much you enjoy your experience.

Yeah, I'd love to watch a game dev go through the process of unlocking Palin. Give them infinite credits, but no other cheats (and no cheesy mode-switching).

I wouldn't say MQ has no real purpose. If he did offer grade 5 power plant upgrades i probably would have gone for that rather than the grade 4 overcharged PP i was limited to. And, i may have ended up with 10% less heat efficiency for an extra 4% power that i found i didn't need anyway when i'd finished modding my corvette. Granted, you may well need the grade 5 on a vulture, for example. But, i think the subtle lesson of MQ (perhaps intentional) is that you don't necessarily need grade 5 everything to achieve an optimal setup.

The 25 MTs are a bit of a grind but at least you can stock up on rare materials doing general missions while waiting for MT missions to spawn. The unknown fragments, on the other hand, seemed like a pointless waste of time - no skill, you just wait until the signal source randomly spawns (unless i'm missing something).

I bet they would give up and use their 'Magic Access Key' or they probably they are still paying in Fish and can't understand all our frustrations ;)

He is just a barrier Palin, who has the good stuff :D.

The one I really don't understand is Bris Dekker.

Felicity Farseer -> Juri Ishmak (+ Donate 1MCr Combat Bonds) -> Bris Dekker (+ donate 10MCr Combat Bonds!)

For grade 4 FSDI and grade 3 FSD (Which you already have from Felicity by this point!)

Thank goodness I looked on INARA before unlocking her :p
