It sounded like a cry when it died after it expired but also when they shot it.
No, no one has ever thought of that in 70,000+ posts you are the first. Previously we've always been dropping it from the same side of Merope how could we have been so blind.
Well, its pretty obvious isn't it?
If the probe wails around planets with barnacles, then you can use it to trace back where the barnacles came from! (Even if they are unrelated to the UP story)
Soooo... If someone has an awful lot of time on their hands a UP and a resistant cargo hold then they are all set! (((-;
Good luck!
5598 posts, def not 70000... Plus I didn't see anything about it on the FP. I've also never had reason to go past Merope. Snippy. [yesnod]
This is thread 8there are 7 full threads with nearly 9,000 posts in each.
After some googling it turns out there is a very common binary code schema that does not have more than 2 consecutive 1's or 0's
(as we see in the UP tuba data stream). It's call Manchester Code. And was used by Voyager 1.

As someone pointed out, it looks like it wails around life, e.g. Earth, where there are no barnacles.

Let me correct that for you. "No need for *you* to read ALL the pages." But you don't mind forcing the hundreds of contributors to this thread and however many lurkers are following this thread having to read yours and any replies to your request. What if all the contributors to this thread did this every day? It would fill several pages, and would not advance things one iota.Given that I ... often post ''morning, anything new?'' posts, I would just like to say that my reasoning is that this is a community. I like to post here to talk to people. When I asked what had changed, somebody provided me with the only specific post that was relevant and I went back and looked. No need to read ALL the pages.
Interesting. So I wonder if we can use the technology in the probe to modify our Detailed Surface Scanner to detect life on planets. Future Engineer mod? Is this the purpose of the probe? Its important to remember that the UP was wailing around earth. It wails in orbit of planets that contain life, life includes barnacle presence. <- Science done on educating ed.
Good call.

May explain why it's not repeating.
That it would be. But it's possible. Getting to the core in a sidey is possible too. But I ain't gonna do it. Takers?

I'd recommend to someone crazy enough to try it - that is - to use a UPs life detection ability to try and team up with someone else with a UP. Get on out there, and locate the source of the barnacles. Pretty soon. Because we don't know how long we will have them for.
At each probable planet in a system you will have to drop the UP and listen to it...
I'm sure the canonn will provide free whiskey and biscuits.
Well according to the spreadsheet, nobody has shot the UP. That would have been the first thing I'd have tried after seeing how it reacted with a UA nearby.
