UAs, Barnacles and other mysteries Thread 8 - The Canonn

Question:

Would the whatever's making the probes (if not the Feds) be using Nebulas as well? Or are they living somewhere else?

Thargoids are a fickle bunch. apparently friendly usually.. from all those tip off messages we get. it seems they dont intend on taking out our ships. just there ships/sphere of influence does. Kinda like the UP. you honk it. it disables some of your systems. and them probes are tiny. Thargoids are as big as a Cobra in the old games... so...... scary thoughts

Can I have some of what you're drinking please?

Well that didn't take long...

Ok smart people I need your help. I've messed around on Merope 5c a bit today finally and I think I'm ready to finalize some things.

1. The puzzle based around Merope 5c and the Probe pointing to it is based on luminosity and the location of Merope 5 in relation to 5c. The part that I discovered today involves the strange coloration of the nebula gasses you can see from Merope 5c.
2. There are two new areas of research that need wonderful scientists such as yourselves. The surface of Merope 5c and the Nebula's gasses as viewed from the ideal location on or above Merope 5c at the ideal time.

Ok Psycho Zulu guy what are you talking about? Not to worry I have pictures.
The ideal time will be when the Nebula's gasses are green(remember the key was green), not red, or yellow, as seen here...also notice the Feline alien (referenced in Drew's short story) who probably has friends (or enemies) hidden in the image that only become visible at the right time. To see the nebula's gasses the best you need to be in the light of Merope 5, you can see it a bit in Meropes light but it's better in Merope 5's illumination (it's yellowish)

UA's and UPs Purr so perhaps these are their makers?
I thought I was crazy the first time I saw a four legged alien creature but here's the first photo I took of them.

Also the images on the surface that I previously posted...vanished for the past few days. When in the lighting from Merope 5 they have returned. What do they mean? I don't know. The UP can figure it out. Here's more pics. Bad quality though if someone can make the symbol more clear be my guest.

So, if any of you mathmagicians can help calculate the optimal viewing time I'd be forever in your debt. By finding that out we'd be able to see the rest of the nebula picture AND probably get the probe to scan the surface for us.

Tested large crater of Mc5 as 'henge'

Conclusion:
Possible
Merope 5 and Merope continuously visible
Odd POI from 7km altitude to 1.2km altitude: nothing found on ground below

Tried repeating this:
Green POI lasted 2 days
Gone as as 8 am this morning GMT 0

Personal Feeling:
Fluke circumstance

Source of Ideas:
I have patched together the ideas of several people:
BluWolve
- Use the dashboard
Rizal
- Because success and continued success (plus this is all his baby) says a lot
Vent
- Sharp, sharp, mind
Davanix
- Told them it couldn't be, but tested it anyway
Maxmilian Czhilli
- Asked for pictures to try to come up with a clock/count down using the rotations of various things in Merope

Found some more further back on this thread:

As listed I've used the term interchangable. I thought I got all of then listed the same but I didn't. You are correct that it should say wails.

@SP
I think your idea of checking spheres of influence is a *very* good idea. Quite possibly a must.

@atebit
The only tests I've been a part of near a barnacle can be found on Isokix YouTube. He was streaming them. Several others have done research since then. I have not done UP tests planet side recently as its still too risky, also, with the use of sphere of influence you can do high orbital testing with no risk from gravity.

Once or twice a day each of these posts occurs:

Are you sure the ua/up points to merope/5 C?

What if we overlay the barnacle/up logo/image?

It's a decoder ring.

It's a space time distortion thing (seriously this game can't even handle 12 cmdrs in the same instance, there is no chance there is any sort of "space time" mechanic in the game)

Have we taken a UP to sol/blackhole/ur mum

Have we EMP'd the UP

Have we used other scanners?

Should I go on? My point is the signal to noise ratio is horrible. You'll notice the usual posters have been quiet lately because this thread is a gong show right now. What's wrong with a little change of pace? I personally have no care for rift/Raxxla but I'd rather read those posts than another one of the aforementioned daily reposts this thread produces.

Plus, this is also a Canonn Thread for the Canonn player group. No one owns the Rift mystery, if Canonn members want to rift then by all means, rift. Makes for a better read than 50% of what's been posted I'm the past 2 weeks.

I do not understand. You start by apparently complaining about the diversity of hypotheses being posted here on UPs, but you then want to make the signal to noise ratio here even worse by inviting unstructured posts from any thread in the forum?
scientific method is aimed at structured investigation, & part of that structuring is to separate out facts/ hypotheses/theories that are clearly unrelated into separate research areas (until there is some clear cross-linkage, which then produces its own dedicated research area). We have this thread for primarily UA/UP, & there are separate threads for: mysterious wrecks/tip-offs, Rift, Jaques, Raxxla, etc. We have been told that the Rift mystery is unrelated directly to the UA mystery, so why do you want to make this thread even harder to follow by mixing it all up?

Yes, it is true that nobody owns the Rift mystery, just as nobody owns the UA/UP mystery etc. The reason why I have not been out recently looking for a UP or assisting in the merope5C search is because I'm currently 5 kylies out investigating part of the Rift mystery, but I have been a Canonn member for over a year & have tried to support through this thread (I tried the discord & disliked it). I post Rift stuff in the Rift thread & I post UA/UP stuff here-it's better science.

Love Isokix! About a week ago everyone was watching them religiously. It's better than than the movies! People kept saying, "This is a game?!" ..."Yes it's a game." ..."The whole milky way??" ..."Yes." ..."Omg, how do we play this? What's it on? ...Wait... this little buggies are people? Those are in-game graphics!" Smart games aren't dead it would seem.

There's a dove in the image now! Ill upload shortly. And also what maybe a thargoid. Not certain yet.

Hey everyone

I present Click on the BBC, and I'm the guy who asked for your UP message diagrams and theories to feature on this week's prog.

Thanks so much to those who sent us stuff. Thanks especially to Rizal72 for putting me in touch with everyone else.

As always with telly we never have time to go into any detail, and although we do try and go into more depth than most tech programmes, we have to give stuff a mainstream appeal.

But the 90 second piece is at about 18'30 on the iPlayer version (in the UK) here www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b07ncgnc and on YouTube here https://youtu.be/Y7irrU85Nz0.

I don't get to play anywhere near as much as I'd like, but Elite has been a very special game for me since the 80s.

So, much respect to everyone who is sciencing the s*** out of this. Proves that ED is a properly intellectual game.

Sorry... Catching up here... Are you suggesting you're seeing patterns in a nebula?

That will be purely down to chance and the fact your brain is programmed to see patterns in whatever it can surely? It's the reason people see the face of Jesus in a potato, and people see the shapes of objects when looking at stars in the night sky...

Or am I missing something?

I have to agree with Derthek (can't give him rep though). A lot of the theories deal with mechanics that are unlikely to have been implemented. When misjumps are available, you can be sure we'll know about it, and it won't be through a mystery 5% of the playerbase is taking active part in.

And you have to remember some of us have been there for a quite a while so seeing the same things repeated over and over again can get quite frustrating.

To offer some comparison I've got a thread I really like about the mysteries surrounding Halsey, SS1 and the Antares (I'm on mobile so can't be bothered to find the link). Some have never visited it and others would say it is dead. To me, it is just waiting for the next interesting post/theory backed up with facts.

I can totally relate to the frustration. People need to pay more attention to the Front Page and use common sense.

Just watched Click, fantastic that this thread, the mystery and frontier have all got this exposure, was a great piece, i even noticed my fun clip i used in the patch notes thread cropped up for a split second. Great show by the way.
Here was the post i sent in. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...-update-incoming/page30?p=4285095#post4285095

This was great to see - Thank You! Must be alot of fun to put the Click segments together. Now if you could just get the BBC sound department to go over some of the recordings for us ... :)
