This is a miner's question. I have not engaged in mining because it seems you need to have a pretty big vessel to make that work from a profit margin view. Having said that. I just started exploring and I have found a sh*t ton of pristine rings including metallic.

1) do miners go out beyond the bubble to mine?
2) do people (miners) want a posting of locations that have these?

If people wanted the info, I would want to keep it to miners only, otherwise some opportunistic SOB's will be right behind you lurking to steal your booty. [arrrr]

I'm down to do it if miners would like the info. We can figure a transmission mode once I know people want the info.

You don't have to have a big ship to mine, there are some smaller ships that have viable mining builds but you'll have an easier time in a ship that has size 4 and 5 modules to spare, I've had the most success in a Conda because I like to use 2X5A collectors and a 5A prospector and still have room for the cargo.

Not sure about other miners but I used to mine just outside the bubble pretty much all the time when I was there, now I mine just outside the other bubble. It certainly would be good to have the locations you've found, I think there is a list here somewhere, it's categorised into locations inside and outside of populated space. It would be cool to see your data added to that... Still trying to find it....

You could hook up with https://eddb.io/ to enter systems with ringed bodies.

I generally stick to having a short SC trip from ring to station though. No jumping.

And you don't need a big vessel for mining. Just have to approach it a bit like rare trading compared to bulk trading. You'll need to focus on your speed and agility to mine more higher value.

Profit over time (your bottom-line metric if maxing cash is your primary objective) hinges on getting to & from the station quickly & efficiently. So, no. If there were no pristine rings in the bubble then this might be a thing, but there are plenty.

If you want to mine at a location free from any pirates sniffing round, there's that perk I guess.

Yup, I just assumed that there weren't pristine rings in the bubble. Alright, between it being not necessary and someone already doing it. I guess I have my answer. Thanks CMDR's

I am a combat pilot but I figured out mining after a few tries. I never leave the bubble ...and I found a pristine metallic ring within 25ly of my home port. Want some tips friend request me on Xbox live amercenary4life.

Bigger ships make mining quicker. The most important module BY FAR is the 4A Refinery. With 10 hoppers, you'll rarely have to manually jettison minerals to make room for different ones. If you've got that, and even some basic collectors, you're good. I skimp on prospectors, because there really is no need for more than 2 limpets, especially with a small ship.

Bhotho system. AB 3's A ring is great, and near the starting location.

I use a Type 6, with 80 something cargo space. Lowest level prospector, and refinery with 5 bins at least. I use two active collectors, with a life time of 700 seconds or so.

Leave Baker Holdings with about 30-40 Limpets, and you should be able to mine for an hour or so, perhaps more. Wears on me any longer than that.

Sell painite at Jones Station in Selianciens system. 70 k per ton, only about 20 ly away.

most players stick to systems with good stations close by. Sap Core's home system has a large station right on the pristine rings that buys panite at 74000 a ton. the shortest trip is best.

Don't forget mining missions - since the 1.6 patch these can be very profitable.

Stack mining missions and sell the rest - I can make around 10 mill an hour in a T9 from mining.

I always mine in deep space... although even in the darkest systems in the middle of nowhere, FDev still manage to spawn pirates...go figure.

Apart from that, it's very peaceful and lucrative. You need at least a Python but preferably an Anaconda for this kinda lark though... depending on how far outside the bubble you go mining. I'm usually far enough to be well on my own but close enough (within 25 Anaconda size jumps) of a market to sell the goods.

Do you have a source of Intel? I did a check last night and I'm barely 350 ly out from Sol. I bet that is well within your Anaconda (don't want none if you ain't got buns) sized jump.

Let me know and I'll start taking note sand kick them to you direct.

Thanks Tom.....but believe me, Brother... after mining for a year I've found many, many hundreds if not thousands. I've turned a bit picky nowadays in that I only mine in the pretty ones :D
I prefer normally to find my own mining spots as opposed to relying on 3rd party web tools... nothing more to that except that it's mine and no one else goes there.
All I need is an ADS and a detailed surface scanner and just look for ringed planets or gas giants. Added bonus is that I can add ice rings to the list of nice places to mine nowadays. A beautiful experience all on it's own and worth doing at least once.

I have a few favourites that I return to regularly where the mining is above average for density and output, they're reasonably close to where I made my home at the edge of the bubble so not too far away.

A nice one inside the bubble for you to add is Algol. It has a beautiful huge blue-white star... head to Algol a4, a nice grey-white, high content metallic planet with a single, pristine metallic ring which is unusual in it's rarity.
The rings are tilted so they don't ever have a shadow meaning you don't have to keep jumping around the rings when it gets dark.
Since Horizons dropped I've driven around on the surface of that white planet too, to mine some rocks in a buggy... a dream I had when sitting in the rings watching the planet. I spent the better part of 6 months mining on the rings around that planet, I earned a lot of cash and upgraded from an Asp to a Python just on the proceeds of Algol a4..

Doing the deep space mining instructor bit with the Lidpar pilot training academy, I took quite a few folks round there to sharpen their teeth on mining away from the common res sites.. showed them that there's more to mining than fighting off 42 pirates for 2 tons of painite.

A few of us decided that Algol a4 was to be our first planetary landing site on Horizons release as a point of nostalgia... quite a few lawndarted and broke their ships so bad... a couple of rebuys... since we discovered right about then that Algol a4 is 2.9g :)

I also really want to go ice mining at least once any beautiful places to do that at?
